Best Girl
Added 2025-07-08 22:58:38 +0000 UTCVery surprised Gameplay is so far ahead. I was so certain Pixelart would be at the very top of the poll. "Gameplay" is a broad subject. Hope I'm not misconstruing things.
Anyway, this one isn't going to affect much, but I'm curious if public opinion has shifted at all since last time. At worst, I'll know that I'm consistent.

im a complete sucker for the yandere archetype and Kari is such a good one. i also believe its a little unfair, Kari is much further along in her "arc" then Yuri, Rin and Nanami. Shes also an active character that has been constantly pushing the protagonist further down the path their on, whereas the other three are reactive. Rin is only shown in the dreams,and her "nature" means shes vague as hell with only hints at what she is, she doesn't have those freeform conversations yet, except for opportunity's you can miss in the first 2 dreams talking about Kari, Yuri and herself (if you can even select it), also the tutorials for the game. The dream hub seems to be your solution of this, looking like the place where future freefrom events for her will happen, shes only got the monster option right now and the bath options (the bath glitched for me so i don't know what happens in those yet). Yuri does not seek you out except for the first cutscene after the first dream. You stumble upon her after Keri does something to you or you have to go up and find her yourself and ask her. Most of her scenes have her just kinda laughing at the player for the unfortunate circumstances they are in and i get it that's the role of the tsundere ice princess. I love the nightmare with you and her, its the vulnerability of her isolation with her want to get away from the nightmares that drive her to you. i want more of that, where we can save her or where she can't save us like in the becoming female nightmare. Nanami, Nanami, Nanami wonderfully destroyed, broken Nanami. She is my second favorite character and makes me wanna cry a lot, i empathize with her way too much, i just wanna hug her and say its gonna be ok, but shes written so well i know that's not gonna do anything good. The lonely isolated girl that was not given a good hand in life and retreated into the confines of her own mind, not helped by the face her dreams were as they were. The interaction in the waking world are evidently hard for her she just so sad, and unable to ask for help because shes got a system that works and doesn't want to be pityed. The sleepover dream was heartbreaking, i kinda wished we got a bit more before we went there, in her dreams. The problem i find, when trying to describe my love for the characters is there are all usually wrapped up in each others story developments. Example being in the sleepover dream, we learn a lot about each of the characters, we learn definitively Yuri is terrified of sleep because of the nightmares, we learn just how obsessed Kari is with us (not that it wasn't evident already) and the nature of that obsession, We learn just how badly Nanami wants to disconnect form reality and live in the dream, finally we learn a little more about Rin's nature and how we have influence over her. I love everyone of these characters and thoughts about them run though my head all the time. i got theory's on everyone, all three of the girls are basket cases in their own way, it is very unfortunate the one truly stable character is RIN!!! The imaginary/real girl who lives in our head and is definitely not telling us all the information.
