The Union has Redacted this Post

Hello Mac-bugs my old friends... So as you guys probably know the Mac releases for MetalMercs have always lagged behind the Windows and Linux releases. Also, so far we have been limited to modern Mac releases (no Intel support). The major reason behind these delays has simply been access to Macs (I'm not a Mac user so I never owned a Mac before), which makes both development and bug testing on Macs take extra time and effort.

However, thanks to all your guys' support on the project I was able to recently purchase an old Intel Mac and have been working to get it ready to compile MetalMercs for us. While I'm confident that eventually this will be the case, sadly I'm encountered brand new Mac bugs on the Intel Mac now... sigh...

To give you some context, the Mac version has always been more buggy than the Windows and Linux versions, mostly in the graphical domain. This is down to the way Mac systems handle visuals in pygame, which seems to be different than how Windows and Linux handle things. Since I'm a Windows user by default and all my development occurs in Windows, I test things in Windows and sometimes Linux and everything always works just fine. I've never encountered a feature that works in Windows but NOT in Linux, so those two builds of the game are largely easy to keep up to date. Regarding Macs though, things are different. If a bug does creep into the game that will ONLY appear in the Mac version, usually I'm not even aware of these Mac bugs until I go to compile things on a Mac. And then once I have a working Mac version, I usually have to do more testing to try to search around and see if there are any missing features or issues.

Anywho, I was hopeful originally that the Mac version of MetalMercs v5.5 would be released very soon but it looks like things will be delayed a bit while I try to figure out why the Union is redacting its history from the players! (ok this bug isn't Union-specific, all the houses descriptions are showing up this way, I just thought it was funny to think that the Union would be redacting things). If you're a Mac user, keep the faith, a version is coming for you. And my hope is the next Mac version will be both Intel and Silicon compatible! (a first for us!)
