Hi folks! Been a few weeks so I just wanted to update you guys on the state of things. As I said in my last video, I am presently working on getting the game ready for an official release on Steam, which is super exciting! However, it's also a LOT of work. Case in point, the game is now functioning in 10 different languages! I won't pretend it's perfectly translated since I used automated tools to do it, but it also took some doing and I'm kind of proud with the result. As I say, the translations may be a little rough at the moment (I have no way of verifying most of these languages for accuracy since I'm just an English speaker), but as with everything in MetalMercs, it's a work in progress.
If you're wondering what's so hard about putting your game on Steam, think of it like this... you get one chance to have a launch and make a first impression, and on Steam things are incremental. Do a bad job at step 1? Step 2 is going to be that much harder. Lagging behind on Step 2? Step 3 is going to be REALLY hard. And on and on it goes. And honestly launching a game on Steam is a big chance to get some attention. We all want MetalMercs to be successful, and so I want to make sure that when it launches on Steam I do everything I can to get it that attention. I've been reading up on Steam and watching lots of videos and experts talk, and so I'm trying to educate myself and make sure I do the best job I can when I finally hit that "live" button.
So, we're still probably at least a few weeks away still. When the Steam page does launch there will be an updated demo released which will include the Called Shot mechanic and all those chunky mech-splosions, but I ALSO will be giving you freebie followers something special on that day. Yes that's right, I haven't forgotten about you freebie followers and fans. While I definitely aim to make sure the Patrons are taken care of as appreciation for their support I truly appreciate everyone who's been a fan of this project from the start. You guys have all given me a lot of joy and motivation over the course of this project and I really am humbled that you're all continuing to play and stick with the game.
Now don't get your hopes too high, I won't be sending you all notarized checks or anything. It will be something small but hopefully something that shows that you are not forgotten!
Metal Jay
