This is one of my favorite episodes in the entire show, by far. Kirika’s transformation, while uncomfortable, is ridiculously well animated and leads into my favorite of her character songs. Her and Shirabe’s fight has excellent choreography, leaning far more on the dancing/ice skating elements they had before. The concert itself was really pretty, but that entire final scene is masterful. A direct repeat of the first episode, including the initial scene of Maria and Tsubasa tearing through noise being a direct copy of the first episode’s concert fight choreography. Above all else, this shows how our new antagonists work. They are objectively the weakest antagonists in all of Symphogear, but that makes them all the more willing to be vicious. They will take any advantage they can find. This entire attack was focused on Tsubasa, as Milaarc herself said. Everything they did that night was focused on traumatizing and weakening her. It’s brutal and instantly makes this group stand out from everyone that came before them.
