Siege RELEASE ANNOUNCEMENT - a simple skirmish game for both Single and Local Multiplayer

The Link to the Game Page is here: https://adriiiiii.itch.io/siege

Hey Everyone! So the past few months I kept showing previews of Project Impact, one of the Games that I have been making for quite some time now,

But since the start of the month I always had a kind of Unease as I really haven't released anything playable for a while, which is honestly not what I'm used to, I like creating feasible and playable stuff, so for this month I decided to take a short break from project impact and make a smaller scope game,

SIEGE is a simple game, technically my first. Which is a Skirmish game similar to games like the old star wars battlefront, or other split screen games like gears of war.

It's straight forward. and uses standard action game mechanics, so Light and heavy attacks, dodging, blocking and ranged attacks

You can also boot the game up with a friend and play local multiplayer.

I decided to do this as I really needed to test myself if I indeed could really make a relatively bigger scale project than just mods or frameworks.

The local multiplayer was also a huge test for me as it taught me careful design into all the gameplay elements, HUD, World, spawning, sending information to the controller and game mode, these challenges really taught me how to be more thoughtful and not just pile up components or code that would just clutter up the whole project.

There are definitely still shortcomings, And yes it's not a perfect game still. but the main point of this project was really a test if doing game development in the future is really for me.

The Game can be Downloaded in itch.io, it's a get for free or pay any amount you want type of game.

Anyways, I do hope you guys like it, and if you do have any feedback let me know! I really want to do well in game development and I know I have to start somewhere. I do constantly work on all my game projects, and I'll admit it has been taking over my modding projects right now, but I do mix up a bit here and there,

having said that, I just really want to thank everyone for the support! Honestly I really hate not having the time to do tech support as much as before, learning a new discipline and trying to create full games really are no joke. So much respect to everyone in the industry. And I will definitely do my best to find time for everything.

Siege RELEASE ANNOUNCEMENT - a simple skirmish game for both Single and Local Multiplayer

Comments

Yow! Apologies for the late reply but, I ran into a few issues with upload limitations and whatnot. Took a bit to get them addressed because I had to contact their support team. I just finished dealing with that last night and now that it's settled I'm now working on presentation for the release and what the future plans will be. So again sorry about the wait but I'm hoping everyone is look forward to it very soon! Thanks :)

ADRI

Hey Adri, how's the demo coming along? Can't wait to try it out!

Benlazer

I can't wait for that. From what I have seen, your mods and the demo, I already know it's gonna be something special.

Benlazer

honestly my initial estimate was 2 months ago before the year ended XD Most of the push backs were usually because of performance and balancing issues, there was also always something missing with it. Although now I can say a few things have improved, the initial Prototype for siege was made in 1 day and the package was made in 11 days, other stuff like art, presentation and videos included, so I can say I'm better at achieving my targets. As for Project Impact, the Initial prototype alone, I plan to release it within the next 15-20 days, so there is something playable and to get people familiar with the system; then focus on adding more content to it to create a solid demo. On the final demo, before the full on game pitch to publishers I'd want to take more time with that, but I still limit myself to around 40-50 days at max. Those are my targets for the final "pitch" demo.

ADRI

I am genuinely looking forward to project impact. Do you have a rough estimate for the release of the demo for it?

Benlazer

Yow! First off I'm really stoked that you're looking forward to the game. I was definitely managing my expectations with reception as this is my first game, so to have people like it, really is big for me! As for the new updates, there's things I'm clearing out to make sure I don't run into any issues like legal or copyright stuff, especially the latest map took heavy inspiration from whiterun. Also there were definitely a few issues that I had to patch up, I also plan to improve other mechanics, as some are really basic and can be easily cheesed. Bows, unanimated, no ammo mechanics etc. Usually first games are experiments or tech demos but for this I wanted to make sure it was a packaged playable game in full, as I plan to be more serious with the whole game dev thing. For the next few days though, the focus is on Project Impact. After Making siege there's a few things I've learned, including the release/packaging/marketing stuff that I wish I knew sooner. I plan to release something like the Siege demo but for Project Impact, Although I have a bigger vision for it, I plan to start the same way, itch, prototypes, demos. I'm in the last phase of the demo already so It won't be far off. Again thanks and looking forward to Posting more info and news on Both Siege and Project Impact soon!

ADRI

One thing I will say, bow is absolutely broken in a lot of ways. One shot head- shot, unlimited ammo, quick firing rate so you never have to worry about distance. And the walls at the siege are so easy to fall off and get stuck, when destroying siege towers and ladders. Besides those two points, absolutely love it. Been playing it for hours already.

Benlazer

Hey Adri, when will the whiterun update for SIEGE come out? I can't wait for the new map and AI!

Benlazer

So far loving it. A bit rough around the edges, but overall, a solid demo.

Benlazer

This is so badass bro. I wish I can do the same thing. I have a vision. Just not the will and time to make it come to be. But this. This is great👍
