Futureporn March 2025 Progress Report

The results are in

Previously I was planning on removing IPFS entirely, but I've changed my mind after seeing the results of last month's poll. The overwhelming majority of visitors want IPFS and Torrents, not just one or the other! Going forward I will support both protocols.

Roadmap announced

I've set milestones for Futureporn 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0. You can see the full list at https://gitea.futureporn.net/futureporn/fp/milestones. First let's talk about Futureporn 2.0. This is complete re-design of the existing site at https://futureporn.net. For now, 2.0 lives at https://bright.futureporn.net, and it will replace the site at https://futureporn.net when it's ready.
I'm focusing my time right now on bringing 2.0 into feature parity with 1.0. Since it's a complete re-write, there's a lot of work to do, but we're making good progress.

Futureporn 2.0 progress

A big problem with 1.0 was a fragmented design and the lack of automation. Routine tasks took hours to complete by hand, and 2.0 solves this.
Since last month, I've fully automated the following.

• HLS playlist generation, with low/med/high quality encodes

• Thumbnails

• .torrent and magnet links

• Continuous Integration acceptance testing

I'm planning for 2.0 to be a big improvement to 1.0, and that means FEATURES! Finally, the features I've been talking about for years seem achievable. Long standing issues are being cleared away, and we're left with a more reliable system to build on.

With the roadmap in place, and excitement to build, 2025 is promise year. This is the year Futureporn cranks it up a notch. Time and pressure, let's make a diamond!
