Thoughts on Unlicensed Season 2

Years ago, I had the thought that it would be fun to write a Night Vale episode with Molly Quinn and Lusia Strus, because I thought they both had great voices that would be very interesting contrasted against each other. Then we cast TL Thompson as Lee Marvin, and their voice got added into the mix in my head. I wanted to hear these three voices together. Gradually I decided that a Night Vale episode was too small an idea. I wanted to make something new with these voices.
Which is when the first images of a seedy strip mall on the margins of LA County started coming to me. An LA detective story. It was nothing like Night Vale. I was excited for us to try it.
Whenever you start a project, you do so with an idealized version of it in your head. This is the perfect version that you imagine people fawning over. And then you have to make the thing and nothing you make is perfect and you have to reconcile the final outcome you were able to make with the perfect version that could only exist uncreated in your imagination. This has been true of everything but Unlicensed. Unlicensed is exactly the version of the thing I saw in my head before we started working on it. It is the best thing we've ever made.
Here is the second season of Unlicensed. It releases on October 31 on Audible. It is so much bigger and more complex than season 1, with a ton of moving parts that all end up weaving together and telling a single large mystery. I am so excited for you to hear it.
You can save it to your Audible library here: https://www.audible.com/pd/Unlicensed-Season-2-Audiobook/B0DCC7ZZWK and in the meantime, I hope you enjoy this trailer.

I don't like my books being read to me so I never had much use for Audible but when Unlicensed first came out I had to check it out. As a result I subscribed to Audible. When Season 1 ended I cancelled my subscription. I have recently resubscribed. Unlicensed is definitely worth it. Better than anything on television, even streaming services.

2024-12-07 20:25:54 +0000 UTCI seem to recall there was a patreon release of season one, but I've been searching for over an hour and cannot find any sign of this. I know I listened to the first episode, and I don't have an audible account, so either there's another way to listen to it or I'm forgetting something notable. Does anyone know if any of the episodes were released to the patreon? and if they were, are they still available?

2024-09-10 18:12:24 +0000 UTCYes! When I was the only one who yelled "Make a Season 2" during ATLs The Attic showing,(to complete silence) I was so worried it was never gonna happen. Can't wait to hear what S2 has to hold!!!

2024-09-10 03:25:52 +0000 UTC🥳🥳🥳 Unlicensed is why I signed up with Audible in the first place, and ever since the (cliffhanger) ending of S1, I’ve been hoping for another season. Thank you!!! Can’t wait!!!

2024-09-09 18:52:30 +0000 UTCI'm so pleased to hear this is coming back, I loved season one but I was starting to assume it hadn't been renewed so this is lovely news! Season one was so atmospheric, twisty and well-acted, cannot wait for more :)
