I've heard of Christian fasting (when I was young I attended a pretty entertaining church because my aunt and friend were religious) but I there's a lot that I just kind of brushed off as weird and never learned about until I was older and got curious about other religious beliefs (because I nearly maxed out studies on my own 😅) but I like how you connect your beliefs to scientific studies. I actually do intermittent fasting for health reasons, but the way Wesley was talking, it sounded completely normal to fast for several days, I was like 😱 How? Why?! But now that makes sense 🤣 I can see him trying to do that from what I see of ya'll. Hope he at least had an IV drip for that period. If I tried that, I'd be dead. Lol

Thanks for being interested!!! ❤️ The religious stuff: We fast one day a year from sunset to sunset, water and food, for day of atonement or Yom Kippur in Hebrew. It is a day that the community comes together and mourns/repents for the world’s evil. In Christianity, it is symbolic of when, after Christ returns, the whole world repents from evil (murder, rape, adultery, theft, anything hurting your neighbor essentially). The point of fasting is to humble yourself. It’s like saying, I’m only human, I can’t even exist without bread and water. We’ll also fast and pray for other people who are going through trials. It’s a way to show our sincerity and to take part in their suffering and asking God to intercede on their behalf. I also think fasting is encouraged in the Bible because it’s healthy for you (see below haha) We don’t eat pork because it says not to in the Old Testament. Same with shellfish. You’ll see a lot of articles about people getting weird parasites from undercooked pork. We believe that law was God’s way of protecting us. And thennn there’s wesley who fasted 7 days for a YouTube video back in the day 😂😂 but we do intermittent fasting and occasional 24 hour fasts just for the health benefits. Your body goes from diverting resources to digesting food to “cleanup” mode. It’s supposed to reduce cancer risk and other stuff. Google has a lot of info on it!

2024-05-30 07:28:02 +0000 UTCAs someone neurodivergent with lots of ND friends, Laios seems very much somewhere between Autistic or ADHD, which comes with selective inattentiveness, difficulties communicating or relating to people properly (better with animals than people), and a tendency to HYPERFOCUS on one's special interests-- in Laios's case, monsters and monster knowledge. I agree with my friends that this is a really respectful portrayal of a neurodivergent character that doesn't shy away from the difficulties OR advantages of the condition in daily life and these unique challenges, and some feel especially validated by the portrayal.

I assume you do it for religious reasons (if it's diet related I'd highly advise you don't do that lol) but it piques my Anthropology brain (I love folklore, theology, mythology, culture stuff specifically) so I'm very interested in what you do, and why? What purpose is it serving for your religion? What are the rules to it? How do you get around health complications from it? I'm also curious why you can't eat pork? It's the extra pressing of the olives that is expensive and has a low smoke point, which is called extra virgin olive oil. Because it is a second pressing, you get less "oiliness" and get more of the olives flavor in it, which is why it's used as a topping or dressing, where as the first pressing is super oily (high smoke point) and neutral (bland. Less flavor) the Greeks used olive oil in their eh, creative ways (trip wire traps, boiling criminals, lube, glossing the body for the Olympic games) so I bet the author got the idea from that. Episode with new adventurers: I think I have Steohanie's disposition at times I shouldn't, but Wesley's disposition at times I should (have Steph's disposition) lol. I fight at the worst times and don't fight enough when it really matters. 😅 Kelpie ep: "If there's someone who wants to eat monsters, I bet there's someone who has a monster fetish" Me: -cough cough- Σ(ﾟﾛﾟ;ﾉ)ﾉ Oh, that uh.. would be too far, wouldn't it..? Heh.. -Hides my hoard of supernatural/paranormal/fantasy romance novels- Also, the parasite was made to resemble braised eel so my brain is thinking "delicious unagi~~" but ya as much as it resembles unagi I just.. couldn't. Nope. And I'm Scottish German! I eat things like gristle, pigs feet, tripe, ect. I'll also try anything once, but not insects.
