This one was so goddam funny that my husband peeked in on me where I was listening, b/c I was laughing so loudly. I couldn't have survived 2020 without your shows, guys. Sure hope Biden doesn't fuck up too much. That office of faith bullshit isn't looking great. That, and the ten ton bible he used at his swearing in. For overall sanity's sake I voted for him, but I'm already sick of his faith shit.

It's not because of the Earth's rotation; the space craft starts off moving at the same speed as the part of Earth that it left. Instead, they turn sideways because space isnt far away; you just have to go sideways fast. Once you get out of the dense lower atmosphere, your main priority is getting the sideways speed to get into orbit. In addition, the lower down you can burn your fuel, the less fuel you waste carrying fuel to a higher elevation (there are also more complicated reasons I'm not qualified to expand on, like the Oberth effect) Just hate to send anyone into a flat Earth debate with a bad tool. - A novice KSP player
