Cup of Jones - March 20, 2018

Changed the date format to be more world-friendly. Reflecting on (and recovering from) the crazy weekend that we had, but this week will be crazy as well. I also have some crazy questions!

I'm tired. See you soon!

Cup of Jones - March 20, 2018

Comments

Hi Jones, Telltale's Batman: The Enemy Within episode 5 is out now, looking forward to the stream. Have a nice week

bjørnar haraldsvik

First of all, who is the person responsible for the sexy new Tournament Night intro? Secondly, how much cash on average do you have in your wallet?

GmanSir

What is the PS3 situation at the garage? - Sorry for soooooo many questions. I just thought of how mine is collecting dust and I thought that I heard the garage is still without one.

Morgan Mohalla

Do you like Far Cry 5 as Brandon Jones (not as a professional reviewer)?

Alexander Zyryanov

JONES! All of Monty Python is coming to Netflix! <a href="https://screenrant.com/netflix-monty-python-catalog/amp/?utm_content=buffer6bd2e&amp;utm_medium=Social-Distribution&amp;utm_source=SR-FB-P&amp;utm_campaign=SR-FB-P&amp;__twitter_impression=true" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://screenrant.com/netflix-monty-python-catalog/amp/?utm_content=buffer6bd2e&amp;utm_medium=Social-Distribution&amp;utm_source=SR-FB-P&amp;utm_campaign=SR-FB-P&amp;__twitter_impression=true</a>

Hey Brandon, no question. Just want to give a shoutout to one of your current podcast sponsors. So after hearing about Schemata for a while I gave it a shot and it's actually really good! Snappy controls, intuitive puzzles that almost solve themselves within seconds, great audio design and an amazing soundtrack that will pull you in. Even if it's just for a few minutes, give this game a shot. It's also free and the few ads are very well placed. Btw. This post was not sponsored :D

Mr. Jones, I indeed have some Far Cry questions. What is your take on the amount of promotion Ubisoft does for the Far Cry series. You mentioned the 30 minute "Inside Eden's Gate" being hard to watch. I agree was not their best effort, but the similar 30 minute promotional live action video they did for Far Cry 3 (linked below) still gives me chills. Michael Mando as Vass terrorizes Christopher "McLovin" Mintz- Plasse as he tries to film a reality TV show on Rook Islands. Not only is it a gripping short, but it is tied into the cover art for the game as well as an in game trophy for finding the scene in the short. That level of intertwined detail blew my mind when I first saw it. This brings me to my next question, which is how can Far Cry escape the curse of Vass? He was not even the main antagonist of Far Cry 3 and yet he is constantly brought up as the most interesting villain. I am not saying he is not but that is a tough act to follow. When the bar is set that high where do you go from there? Respectfully, Morgan Mohalla <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCHhEAeuUws" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCHhEAeuUws</a>

Hey Mr Jones, In today's world of social media and internet influencers how much do you think first impression of a game affects it's critical and commercial success?

Is Disneyland worth going to if I've already been to Disney World? My wife and I are planning our next vacation and I suggested going to Disney World again because the two times we've gone we've absolutely loved it, but my wife thinks we should do something a little different and try going to Disneyland instead. I'm sure it would be fun, I'm just worried it won't be as fun because it's smaller and with less to do. Do you think we should play it safe and go back to World or try something new and go to Land? Thanks!

G'day Jones, I've seen a few Pixar film rankings and brackets lately, including yours, and it makes me wonder what you think of the campaign for The Incredibles 2? Even for a franchise based around the oxymoron of mundane superheroes, it's a pretty bland premise they're presenting, and I wonder if they're repeating the Brave tactic of only showing footage from the first act.

DaleBastion

Good morning, Brandon. Thank you, Easy Allies, for showing me that the interwebs CAN be a wonderful place. You have inspired me to start a YouTube gaming channel of my own. 10 weeks ago, a friend and I began doing our own weekly video game podcast on YouTube and we've been having a blast. (Shameless plug follows, please skip if unwanted.) The channel is called D-Up Gaming. We are on YouTube and iTunes. (Shameless plug ends) We want to eventually get into reviews and previews as well. I am wondering how you guys get your hands on the soundtracks that you put into your reviews? Are they sent to you by the publishers? Do you have to buy them digitally somehow? Should we be contacting the publishers ASAP about using their games' footage and soundtracks? We didn't start that long ago so I doubt they would pay us any attention anyway. Thank you once again. Love and, definitely the utmost, respect. Koala P.S. Any chance I can get you to make a guest appearance? :P

D-Up Gaming

Mr. Jones! Coming hot off your Twitter response in here to ask you this. You tweeted specifically about the microtransactions in Far Cry V. But my question is when did you feel as though it was standard affair to specifically point them out? The reason I ask is because I saw another news outlet write an article strictly about their presence. I was blown away by this article not because of the substance but why they felt the need to write it at all. Do you feel like as though microtransactions should be mentioned in all situations from this point forward or was this due to a prior Far Cry controversy I may have missed?

Dominíc Brown

Mr. Jones, I know you're not the biggest Kingdom Hearts fan of the Allies, but with an E3 appearance hopefully on the way, and a release date hopefully not far behind it, what are some worlds you'd like to see in Kingdom Hearts III and some worlds you specifically wouldn't like to see? For me, I'd love to see Robin Hood, and would be pretty disappointed to see a spot go to Frozen. PS: If you're unsure, my name is pronounced "KEER-awn". Just Barrelbot's fine, too.

Good Day, Brandon I was wondering, what is your favorite part of reviewing a game?

Mr.V

Hard question today: Top 3 Animal Crossing characters?

Erunion

Hello there, Jones, as a fan of Batman and Predator did you read the Batman Vs Predator comics that came out on early 90's? I used to love them, and in my opinion is not just the best of all those crossovers that happened but the one that most make sense. I would love to know your opinion on that comic and any other crossover that you read. L&amp;R Gabriel Heilborn PS: I find very amusing how you pronounce my name wrong.

Gabriel Heilborn

With the recent release of the most important game of March, Kirby: Star Allies (What's a Farcry?), it feels only fitting to ask a question related to the Kirby series' consistently strongest point: Final bosses. Got any favourite final bosses in all of video games? For what reasons? Additionally, got any favourite final boss themes? I know I'm a bit late to the subject, by the way, but I'd like to congratulate you on the second year of Easy Allies. I started watching reviews on Gametrailers almost ten years ago, and you've been present in my life as THE voice of video game reviews through all of my teenage years. It's amazing to be sitting here as a soon-to-be 23-year old and still be listening to the same person who inspired my interest in games media as a literal child. Love and respect, Small Leviathan

Hello! (no acronyms this time :p) Just came here to ask for maybe a couple more Twitch emotes to celebrate the (upcoming) release of Box Peek. Maybe Kyle can gift us a "Peekref12" emote or a "Cease This" emote. Anyway, thank you and good luck!

Kenny Montenegro

I agree ResetEra and old gaf are the most toxic communities I have ever laid my eyes on, those people try to ruin others lives.

Wow 75 questions. Unlikely to get in but I will try anway. DISNEY FLUFF PIECE. have been watching (and rewatching) Moana with my 2 year old son, we also have the soundtrack on loop in the car. I am amazed that I still love most of the songs. I think its because they are hopeful and inspiring (save maui's song). My question is what is your favourite Disney Soundtrack? I am between Moana and Aladdin.

Steven Beaumont

Bonus question from Kyle which I'm very curious about! "What would it take for Jones to tune in on my friday streams?"

I agree that nazis were obviously and undoubtedly the bad guys, but I gotta say that "the germans" were certainly not. The little kids, the wifes of solddiers, the men that couldn't fight , the people that tried to fight the nazi regime were all bad guys as well? And the nazis had allies, but nobody ever talks about having fun killing those. And like I said above, I never had a problem with the nazi stuff in particular, just he way Huber excessively shouts about killing them specifically. Like Jones said, it's all about how we say stuff and in what context. I just finished F.E.A.R. yesterday and there were some bloody corpses lying around on the floor. I moved to them and stood on them (In F.E.A.R. you can see your own characters legs) and as I looked down on the corpse with me boots on the body I chuckled. That was funny to me. Stepping on a corpse. (But it's "just" a videogame, so that's totally fine with me and in reality I really hate violence and can't stand seeing actual blood) Now imagine, I went up to a stranger and said "I just laughed while stepping on a bloody corpse". That person would think you're crazy! If you said "I just laughed while stepping on a bloody corpse in a videogame" there's at least a higher chance that that person doesn't think you're crazy (people that believe everything the mass media tells them will still think you're crazy though)

I don't have a question, but I asked the meditation Q a few weeks ago. Thanks for the advice you gave, it's helped tremendously! Also, I still request another "nature"-type editorial sometime if you get the itch to do one! I could always use a little more motivation.

Been tossing my dream show ideas in my head. You guys are probably too busy right now to make any of them happen, but just wanted to share them because why not? So here goes! 1) there are requests for more coverage of new games on EZA 2) You guys stream a lot because it's easier than edited videos 3) heard it mentioned once that there was a weekly stream requirement for the majority of the Allies 4) I think Blood said once that he had a bunch of codes for games that nobody had signed up to review. What if each of the 7 of you (and Ian too if he wants, since he seems to be trying to stream a bit more now) rotates off weekly and replaces their regular stream with a new game stream (using up those codes of Blood's)? With 7 or 8 of you, your turn would only come up about once every two months, so disruption to your normal stream schedule would be minimized, it wouldn't be any additional workload since it'd replace a stream you'd be doing anyways, and we'd get to all try out some new games together. Also, one of my favorite EZA things is listening to Huber and Brad pull out a story from their super long history together. I would give so much if they had some kind of retro gaming show together where they picked out one of their favorite games that they used to play together in the past, and played through it again while talking about old memories and how things have 'held up.' (Actually, this is one idea I would raise a patreon pledge for!). Just my ideas I wanted to share! Happy year 3!

Mr. Jones. This is gonna be long. but the question for the show, if you decide to take it, will be framed in bars. The rest you can skip from the show if you want, but is something I'd like to share with you. ------- Question for the show ------- Why was it that at the end of some of the episodes of the Final Fantasy Retrospective, you say something like "join us next week when we'll talk about the next chapter in the series". Was it your call to say that the next episode would be out in a week? Was it someone else that was trying to force you and the team behind it to have the episodes out in a weekly basis? ------- End of question ------- I've always wondered about that because, as I have told you many times in different channels, I consider the GT FF retro one of the finest pieces of entertainment I have ever watched, so when a week, two, three or maybe a month came by and the next episode was not out, I wasn't even mad, I just thought "why would they even say a week when this clearly takes a lot of time to produce"? This is not prime time TV, this is the internet. I always considered that things in the internet are timeless, and they are released when they are finished. I still think about it that way, for the retros and game sleuth. As I said in February's community comments, the retro made me go the DS way vs the PSP, because it was the only way to play III (legally), and while the PSP had the better versions of I &amp; II, I would be missing V or getting a version with crappy loading times; so your work was pivotal to my decision. And changing the subject just a bit, a couple of months ago I thought of suggesting you something, that I know you probably legally can't do, but even if you could you probably wouldn't; but I think it would be hilarious if you cut down the FFVI part of the retro into a 5 minute video and use it as your aid for a future Hall of greats. I just mention it because watching Damiani use his own script of the Shadow of the colossus review, made me think that while not the video itself, maybe you could use part of the script or a draft that didn't quite made the cut. I don't know, maybe something to think about, if not for FFVI, for any other game worthy of being called one of the greats. Love &amp; Respect, César.

César Villa

Hey Jones, I quick question, do you wear shoes while recording Cup of Jones?

GmanSir

Hi Jones. I've had an idea rocking around my head for a bit and was wondering if you thought it could work. Old school JRPG but having musical theatre elements brought into it. Having big musical numbers punctuate epic story moments or just used to convey the feelings of the characters. I think that the two mediums could blend into something magical but I'm having a hard time working out how to marry them in a way that is not just a good musical, but also a fun game and not having the songs 'take away' from the experience.

Daniel Rona

That is a lot of hate for ResetEra. I'll happily admit that things can get very Black/White there but calling them toxic is a bit much imo, especially when there are so many worse places on the internet. The "closedness" is to ensure that trolls and truly toxic people have a much harder time invading, and imo that's worth the groupthinkyness of some of the more extreme people there.

Daniel Rona

You know, I had this idea of having a meet-up to watch the Anniversary Concert with other Bay Area Allies, but ... it just didn't come together in time. I would be down to organize and host a Bay Area viewing party sometime.

Liz Castro

Mr. Jones I would really like a camping etiquette PSA! Long story short, Went camping with my wife at two different locations last week and other campers were the worst. They let their kids (some as young as 2) wander through our camp area unattended, rode bikes and ATVs through our camp area, asked us to give up our spot (at dinner time, over the campfire) even though there were plenty of other spots available, then picked a spot next to us and were obnoxious just because, and ended up screaming and partying until 3am. We decided to move and were glad because we could still hear them over a quarter mile away. There was a nice bunch of campers that invited us to dinner though so they weren't all bad. Have you had an over the top camping issue before? How would Batman deal with obnoxious campers? Respectfully, Morgan Mohalla

Morgan Mohalla

Hey Jones, Batman's my favourite superhero, but I've only read a handful of the comics, mainly because they seem so daunting to get into. The one off stories are great (like Killing Joke or Dark Knight Returns), but in terms of the continuous stories, where's a good place to start? It doesn't seem practical to start from the very beginning, as there would be far too much to get through. In addition, what would you consider to be the essential storyarcs/storylines to read that may or may not be just one-offs? Thanks, Logan Tawse

Logan Tawse

Hi Brandon, I'm German and like everybody else we don't see Wolfenstein - or Indiana Jones - Nazis as anything else than enemies / the villains. In WW2 movies we root for the heroes. Sometimes that's the Americans (Saving Private Ryan), sometimes the British (Dunkirk), sometimes the Russians (Enemy at the Gates) and, yes, sometimes the Germans (Das Boot). I never heard anybody had a problem with killing Nazis, though. However, I heart multiple times, that fellow German game developers would have a problem to make a game that let's you play (and potentially win) as the Germans in a WW2 game. While it is true that the Wehrmacht was not a Nazi organization, it is also true that this wasn't a "normal war with more or less the same amount of good and bad people on all sites" (something you might say about World War 1, for example). The Germans were clearly the bad guys in this war which makes them great villains; Nazis or not. Best, Jan

Rally ho, Brandon! After listening to last week’s Cup of Jones, the discussion in regards to the Group Stream Selection Committee highlighted some of my long-felt opinions about the very existence of the institution. For context, I was opposed to the idea of the Group Stream Selection Committee from its inauguration, as I felt that having the Allies collectively decide what game they wanted to play each week allowed them to highlight their own interests with the group, and gave the Allies an opportunity to give additional coverage of recently-released games. That’s not to say that I don’t see the value in giving the community an opportunity to see its own collective interests followed, and I don’t doubt a significant percentage of the community appreciates it, but I still see it causing some problems. Mainly, when I watch the personal streams of the Allies, there’s often discussion of games other than what’s being played, and it usually concludes with a statement along the lines of “Oh, I would love to see the other Allies’ reaction to that game/I think [Insert Ally Here] would love to see that/This is an interesting game I don’t think the other Allies is going to try, please vote for it for the Group Stream, that’d be amazing”. I find this quite frustrating to hear in the knowledge that that game is very unlikely to ever be represented so long as the Group Streams always follow the whims of the community. Have you guys ever considered alternating Group Streams, so that one week you choose among yourselves what game you’re going to play, and the next week, you allow the community to decide for you? I feel that this would grant the Allies the bandwidth to cover things they would be interested with seeing the rest of the Allies play, while still allowing for community involvement. Of course, there are also Group Streams that don’t ask for community involvement, such as the Hall of Greats that mess up the alternating order of curated or community Group Stream picks, but I feel an initiative along these lines is worth considering, as Group Streams that the Allies themselves are initiating and are excited about are very likely to be entertaining for the community to watch. I’m interested in hearing your thoughts on this, and congratulations of the two-year anniversary! Regards, Oleander

Fortnite Save the world question - How do you manage all the gear in your backpack and storage? i always seem to have too much. Also i don't know if you feel the same way or not but i feel like Epic has a great game on their hands here and it seems like they're kicking it to one side and only concentrating on Battle Royal. I understand it's making them the big bucks, i just wish they poured some of that effort into making some quality of life changes into the PVE With the text chat being one of them. What changes would you like to see in the game?.

Prototype Jay

Hi, Brandon! Hope you're well. I was recently thinking about organizing some kind of small local EZA community get-together here in Vancouver, and was wondering whether you had any particular thoughts on that sort of thing. I know community-organized hang-outs are a bit more common in other communities like the Kinda Funny best friends. Are these something you'd like to see more of in the EZA community, and in what capacity? Any guidelines or tips we should follow when planning these? Cheers! &lt;3 (Also, if there are any allies from Vancouver that I'm not familiar with yet- hit me up! :D)

Noah Weinstein

Hello Brandon! [About my name, still. Maybe try something like Vil Le Ranto. I and E should sound different, and both short. No worries, though.] Listen. I'm a man of order, and I would really like it if you guys were as well. This is a relatively small thing and concerns group streams and their content and dates. It bugs me, for instance, that Hall of Greats has started to slip schedule-wise, as the latest ones should have been in November and February, not in December and March. The next one's scheduled for May, but we'll see. Also, the March tournament seemed to go unnoticed by everyone, but now it seems to be happening at the last possible moment. Thumbs up for that. What I'm asking and maybe suggesting, is that could't you check the upcoming calendar year at the beginning of January and maybe reserve all the needed Tuesdays for these kinds of things far in advance? One Tuesday in Feb/May/Aug/Nov for Hall of Greats, and all the second Tuesdays of each month for the tournaments. That should clear things up and help to plan each week way better in advance. Again, we've had all these things eventually, so nothing's been lost, but like I said, I'm just a man of order. :) L&amp;R, Ville / Sentinel Beach

Ville Ranto

Kinda agree with the 1st point. Maybe Jones could seperate the EZA related questions and answer them before the Disney/StarWars/etc questions

Sven Van Lathem

Yo Jones, First time writing in. I have a couple questions so feel free to read all, one, or none if you wish! 1. At this point in time, what is the intended purpose and audience of Cup of Jones? In my view this has gotten a bit murky with time. I'm in a weird position where I am very interested to hear about the inner workings and decisions of EZA and not very interested in hearing about Disneyland or Batman, and I'm left uncertain when a new episode releases if it will be relevant for me to listen to. I know the contents all depends on the questions you get, but would it be valuable to encourage more clarity between submissions to this and Community Showcase to give those shows a more distinct identity? 2. Going into Year 3, what are the big initiatives and goals for EZA? I remember you made gestures last year towards teaching some other Allies video editing. How did that turn out? Is it still an ongoing effort? Setting aside bringing in new fans, what are the biggest changes you think you can make to improve the experiences of people investing in EZA right now? Thanks! -Josh B

You guys need to do better! You guys have been at this for 2 years as Easy Allies and all of you fail to speak into the mic ALL THE TIME. I had assumed something in your audio setup was making your audio low but last week Ben Henson came in and put all of you to shame

Podcast volumes are so low, what gives. It's as if the volume is at %50 now

Ibrahim Sozer

Heya Brandon, long time watcher first time Patron! Glad that my finances finally worked out that I can support you guys financially. I have been to Disneyland exactly once in my life when I was 16 and had a miserable time. We went in the dead of July when we were all off of school, so the park was packed, the lines were absolutely abysmal, and with it being in July, the heat was easily the worst. We spent two days there (one in Magic Kingdom, one in California Adventure) and barely got to do anything that we wanted due the crowd. My wife and her best friend have been trying to tell me for years that my parents did the whole trip wrong and if I give it another shot the "right way", I'll have a much better time. My question for you is simple: is there such a thing as a "right way" to experience the park and is it worth shelling out several hundred dollars to try it once again? Also, not really related to that, but just wanted to use this space to give a small signal boost to a game called Dungeon Fighter Online. Its a F2P MMO that plays like a beat em up that is not pay to win and just celebrated its third year on a relaunch. The playerbase isnt as high as I'd like to be, so just thought I'd leave a note for a signal boost if possible to get more people involved Thanks again! L&amp;R Gaspard

Gaspard

Here's a link to the therapy recordings though <a href="https://youtu.be/jATKxMlSQ_4" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://youtu.be/jATKxMlSQ_4</a> It discusses her deteriorating social life, the trauma from the first game, and the stress of all of the killing that she did. Pretty interesting stuff The game doesn't focus on them specifically but they sort of set the stage for where she is as a character when the story begins, and I think it's fine for a trailer to use that as a point of drama to hook people. Marketing and all that

VGJunky

Jones! I'm a little salty about this week's podcast (don't have to read this on CoJ unless you want to respond or have a takeaway or something) I mostly took issue with how you guys handled the Tomb Radier discussion - I get that you guys seemed to mostly be talking about Shadow and Rise of the Tomb Raider from a marketing standpoint but I think that the whole segment would have benefited greatly from having somebody at the table that could actually speak more in depth about the real strengths and weaknesses of Rise of the Tomb Raider - both from a gameplay standpoint and also to chime in on the marketing/story stuff you brought up. (Huber didn't count because he didn't remember any of it!) The worst part was talking about whether the game followed through or not with the premise of the original trailer concept. I will say that they didn't drop the psychiatrist stuff and logs from those sessions are still in the game. Additionally, she's basically lost all of her friends by the start of the game because of her obsession, which I think you said you wanted Shadow to do! You guys called the games good at some point but it feels like a hollow thing to say when it's 10 minutes of mostly negativity and nobody really knows anything substantial bout the most recent entry. Huber talking about how he doesn't remember any of it, while honest, is also a pretty damning statement to make (basically calling it forgettable) I feel like anybody that enjoyed the first game would appreciate what they did to open things up for the second, and I wish more people that enjoyed the reboot, such as yourself, had been able to give Rise a chance. The discussion definitely would have benefited from having at least one person with a more complete picture of the current state of the franchise Anyway, for everybody out there (including you!) it's never too late - I'm personally very much against the culture in this medium that, aside from retro or cult classics, if a game is a year or two old it's basically not worth anybody's time because the zeitgeist is over unless it comes out with another GOTY Edition or HD Remaster or Switch port. The game's on PC - it's on PS4, it's on Xbox, it looks great with Pro enhancements, and I think it's really darn fun

VGJunky

Hi Brandon, you did make a good point that now people can submit questions on CoJ for just a dollar and you're great at communicating, but I think it is worth mentioning that CoJ was missing for quite a long time so it really was quite difficult to bring up something like this and get a dialogue going I wonder if less people would have left or held that opinion if CoJ had been in this format from the start, but at least we have it now

VGJunky

Very much agreed. I think a camera upgrade will see immediate and noticeable effects for EZA content (after a typical rough adjustment period) Put my $100 to a new camera and if you do a particular fund for it (gofundme, patreon drive, donation stream) I will will support it

VGJunky

Hi there Jones, moving into year 3 of operation how do you see Cup of Jones evolving? You often say that this is an 'investors meeting', a place where concerns about EZA can be discussed with us 'directly' (RIP Iwata, we still miss you!) but probably more than 50% of the questions are of a more general and personal nature. It's great that you answer every question but can you see yourself taking a more curatorial stance as time goes by as to what questions you answer? I'm happy with the state of EZA but not a fan of theme parks, Batman or Disney so I often ask questions from left field to try and spice up the conversation but I get a pang of guilt every time; am I abusing my power as a lowly $1 patron to get you to talk about random subjects? Side question: are you concerned about your answering of questions on Cup of Jones devaluing answer questions as part of the Community Showcase? Much love and respect to all!

Good Morning Jones, hope you're well. My question is regarding E3. The E3 live reaction streams are some of, if not the most watched Easy Allies content. Does any planning go into the streams before hand? And is there any pressure to deliver every year? Keep up the great work. Love and Respect. Jonathan.

If you could compare each Allie to a Pokemon, who would each one be? I am most interested in your picks for Ben and Don.

Evan Charles Teague

Question about capturing gameplay footage - do you keep an archive of footage you have already captured for a game, or do you always capture new material? why not put it out to the gig economy IE fiverr etc? I'm sure there's lots of talented gamers who could spend an hour capturing footage of old games for huber syndrome.

David Warren

(You do not have to read this on cup of Jones) For those who think Huber is violent because of the video games he plays or that peach beach splash players are sexual deviants, there is no correlation between violent video games and behavior. Source: Science daily, published 01/16/2018.

Joey and Cait

Talking about Goldeneye, people have been speedrunning it for 20 years! I would recommend RWhiteGoose's speedlore. I think you'd get a kick out of watching them figuring out new strats and tricks to go a little bit faster. Some levels have random elements like spawning but also getting a certain weapon to get a speed boost.

Alexander Mcloughlin

Hello Brandon. Considering the time between episode 3 and 4 of the Souls Retrospective, would you have rewrote the script of the last episode if a new Souls game or Bloodborne 2 was annonced? (Shadows die twice? ) L&amp;R Aurélien

Aurélien GRANIER

I apologize for the controversial topic or re-visiting the editorial once again, but I currently reside in Japan and I believe I can shed some light, at least a little bit, on sexually suggestive games. From my experience, Japan accepts sexual suggestive content, or at the very least it caters to a particular demographic here. Japan has a much higher tolerance for sexual suggestive content, but on the other hand is adverse to physical violence. In the States, I would argue the opposite is true. In my opinion, I believe sometimes people, myself included, impose their own cultural expectation on content from another culture and draw conclusions. I am not saying this is right or wrong, but do you think this happens on occasion? Sorry for the long winded message, but I appreciate your input and hope this perhaps shed a little bit more light on the more touchy topics within the EZA community.

Good morning Jones. First off I would like to thank you and the rest of the Allies for a fantastic concert i had the privilege to see in person with a crowd of wonderful community members and memory i will truly cherish. Second, I hope you, Amanda, Brad, &amp; Kristen enjoyed the His&amp;Hers Star Wars popcorn/snack tubs I gave as gifts at the meetup. And lastly, Thanks to RickemRobo and the attending allies for a wondrous time at the DisneyLand meetup. It was an absolute pleasure to meet everyone who attended and i'll be there again next year. My comment this week is in regards to the concert. Even though its was a fantastic show to attend in person their seemed to have been a divide between those watching the concert live and those watching at home in Twitch chat. Moments throughout the stream chat seemed annoyed and frustrated over our enthusiasm during each performance. Like when chat says we aren't being loud or screaming hard enough during each performance. Or when they claim we weren't into it judging by our shadows not rapidly shaking back and forth. I feel that the sound aspect could be contributed greatly in future productions with some sort of boom mic tech to prevent the music drowning out our cheers or applauds. I know this sort of equipment is not cheap by all means but just my one observation about the concert that could be better improve future shows. Thanks for reading my question and I look forward to what Year 3 and Beyond brings to EZA. L&amp;R

Hey Mr. Jones! I hope this finds you well and not snuffle-y. Now that there are two years of Easy Allies, I want to ask: Would you kindly ( =-] ) review the Easy Allies not only from its inception to now, but also from year one to now? Thanks again and have a wonderful day. Cheers!

Brandon K Gann

Jones have you played FF Tactics: War of the Lions? If so, could you give your thoughts on the story. I've heard you and other allies mention the game but never in depth. I only ask because it is my favorite game of all time. Thank you Jones!

Hello from Australia! Im currently really enjoying telltale's batman season 2, and I cant help but think that its a significant improvement over the first season. If there is a season 3, what would you want from it? specific villains? more divergence in the storyline due to player's choice? I was personally loving being a villain in this season, even if undercover. I know its not traditional for batman to be a villain, but my god would it be interesting, and for there to be an alternative storyline where you are not the villain would increase the replayability by a significant amount. I would also love to prevent a villain from becoming a villain if I made certain choices, and then have them become an aid of some degree (either to batman or the police force) would also make it an amazing game. Im just spit-balling, what are your thoughts?

No fancy questions today. I just want to congratulate you on two years. You guys are amazing. Thank you for taking your time to do this.

You mentioned getting a new camera, I highly recommend the Panasonic GH5. It might be overkill, but man you would be future proofed, that's for sure. I would be willing to donate towards new equipment, maybe a gofundme. I know you guys probably feel like we already do enough but I am sure most of us just want to help you guys if need be. I also think a good camera for EZA is the way to go since 80% of your content is all on 1 camera.

Really liked your response. This is why Cup of Jones is really something special amongst all the great EZA shows! nazis) It might have come across that I hate the thought of killing nazis in videogames, but that really doesn't matter to me. In fact have fun killing anything, as long as it's in videogames (I play some of those games as well). I really specifically meant the way Huber says it with his usual loud and enthusiastic Hype-voice which scares me (or maybe creeps me out?) a little bit...instead of maybe generalising and just saying "kill people" in videogames. But like you said, since WWII is still kinda a recent thing, they are the easiest of targets for anything evil and like a Jesse Abraham above said, by now they are just videogame tropes like zombies and the like. And I obviously don't think Huber tries to be antagonistic, it's just the way he's been brought up and beside that one little thing (and thinking Witcher 3 is better than Bloodborne) he's wonderful in my eyes. + Germany sucks at handling anything nazis. Everything nazi is getting censored here (just like a lot of other stuff) and because of that I had to play Wolfenstein: New Order with german voice acting and no mention of nazis in the game (they just get a different name *rolls eyes*) sexy) In my opinion some of the games (like the regular Senran Kagura games I play...yeah I actually never played or plan to play PBS, cause I'm not interested in that kinda gameplay) are just dumb fun hack'n'slash gameplay with "pretty" ( ;) ) visuals. Other ones are really perverted though, but I think that's also okay. For me personally a game gotta be fun first, if there's some perverted stuff in there that doesn't take itself too seriously I'm totally fine with it. To sum it up, I specifically like your lines "Does potentially treating women not the way you treat them in real life going and causing you to do those actions automatically. No! Does playing violent videogames make you violent. No!" And I wholeheartedly agree on that! Now, only the general populace has to see that point as well and everything would be wonderful. And now the promised game time: So, I used google translation to convert english game titles into german (cause I think that's funnier than me translating the actual meaning). I'm giving you the german titles and 3 options. Pick the english title of the game. I'll post the answers in the next Cup of Jones, if chat doesn't give you the answers right away. + I'll give you 10 games, do as many as you want :) Example) Finale Fantasie A) Chrono Trigger B) Final Fantasy C) Lost Sphear The answer is obviously "B) Final Fantasy". Now it's time to test your skills *chabang* 1. Metall Ausrüstung Fest A) Super Meat Boy B) Senran Kagura Burst C) Metal Gear Solid 2. Bewohner Böse A) Resident Evil B) Grow Home C) Dark Souls 3. Hohler Ritter A) Shadow Warrior B) Hollow Knight C) System Shock 4. Die Legende von Zelda: Hauch der Wildnis A) The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker B) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time C) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 5. Straßenkämpfer 2 A) Soul Calibur 2 B) Street Fighter 2 C) Virtua Fighter 2 6. Spieler Unbekannt Schlachtfelder A) PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds B) Disney Infinity C) World of Warcraft 7. Ausfallen A) Danganronpa B) Fallout C) Pikmin 8. Blutbefleckt A) BloodRayne B) Bloodborne C) Bloody Roar 9. Gerechte Sache A) Just Cause B) Dying Light C) The Witcher 10. Der Teufel Könnte Weinen A) Child of Light B) Gravity Rush C) Devil May Cry

I agree!

I finished the episode, and you asked people who platinumed Peach Beach Splash to reach out. So, at risk of random people seeing or hearing this and thinking I am a horrible person, I am reaching out. Great editorial by the way. I totally understand people would not like the senran kagura series, and I understand why you guys in did not play it. Ben gave his reasons on a frametrap after testing the waters, and thought it would be a bad stream. What he said makes sense, and I have no hard feelings. (I will admit at the time I was upset, but I learned from it and feel I came out a little better person.) Just one of the real bummers that your editorial was about is that people have some very harsh judgments of people that enjoyed this game. Thank you Jones for not thinking that way. As you are somebody you is unfamiliar with Peach Beach Splash, and the Senran Kagura series in general, do you have any specific questions? I'll do my best to answer them. Sorry if this would have been better in a DM.

Direct feed was planned with the venue, but there were unforeseen technical difficulties with running our videos on their equipment. Sadly, in order to enable us to run the videos at all, direct feed was one of the first things we had to kill. -Bloodworth

Howdy Jones! Confess your sins! When was the last time you felt the temptation of each of the seven deadly sins, and how did you fight them back? For reference they are: lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, and pride.

Amazing job on the concert and I'm very grateful for the Twitch stream!. Just a suggestion for future events. Perhaps it was an oversight or just logistically complicated., but direct feed for presented videos, please!

Good day Brandon, my question of this week is this: do you think that you need to improve your internet bandwidth? how about getting the superior model of ElGato Thank you!

Daniel Garza Andrade

I mostly agree with you on that. The thing I tried to convey is that it just bugs me a little bit (really, just a little bit) how much Huber (and others but I noticed it most with him, probably because of Huber Syndrome ^^) glorifies killing nazis specifically, instead of straight up saying "killing stuff" in videogames is fun or something along those lines.

What the hell. I'm not German. I'm danish, but I lived in germany for some time. No modern day germans identify with Nazis. Well, I guess a tiny fraction of germans do but they're sick bastards, just like anyone else, in any other country, who sympathise with nazis. It's fine to kill Nazis in fiction. Just like it's cool for Django to kill slave owners in Django Unchained. It's honestly a little frightening that we have to be sensitive towards Nazis. I can understand why some germans could feel uncomfortable about how WW2 is portrayed in video games. Not all German soldiers where nazis, after all. But Nazis are Nazis. It's a horrible ideology and it's more than okay to kill people who represent that ideology. Only in fiction, not in real life of course.

Patreon seems to have gobbled up last week's question. It's okay because it was too long anyway. The gist of the question, however, is what are your thoughts on the permanency of IPs when they apply to theme park attractions. Do you think it's wise of Disney going all in on Marvel (and to less of an extent Star Wars) at their parks when they could conceivably one day become less popular and then Disney is stuck with a bunch of attractions that are seemingly outdated? I included a very good joke in last week's comment about Captain America Sings. It was very funny.

Hi Jones, I know this is a little early and maybe a little confusing. As you may or may not know quiche is a little bit of a meme in the offline twitch chat (Due to my unhealthy amount of quiche eating). I was thinking about coming over to the US for PSX this year and me and skylerarch has been talking about then making quiche for everyone at the meetup. Would this be possible? or is this something you wouldnt recommend as it might be a bit suspicious to hand out food to "random" people of the community? I think it would be a fun thing to do and it might offer a slightly different experience. Or should we right out stay away from it? L&amp;R Lotiaz

Hello Jones! Long time fan first time commenter, just for context sake I discovered you back at Gametrailers specifically thanks to your God of war 2 review. My question is a simple one somewhat inspired by your most recent editorial. What is the target age demographic of EZA? I ask this out of curiosity because I notice there is a lot of care given to not using profanity or speaking about sexual topics in most content the allies produce, but in terms of violence it seems a bit more relaxed as nothing to my knowledge is age gated on either the main or secondary eza channel so I'm just curious what the official stance is on this. Proud to be a patreon love everything you all do L&amp;R

Any thoughts on the live action Winnie the Pooh movie or maybe Winnie the Pooh in general?

Disk Cart here! , I am incredibly impressed by the quality of the designs for the new eza shirts! What was the process in having them made?

During one of his streams Damiani said that he is looking into buying a green screen to remove background and make streams look more professional. I just want you to know that I love you rectangular boxes and I think that they look much better than talking head in the middle of game's UI.
