I was nervous that the story in Far Cry 5 was going to be offensive, and it turned out to be kind of dull - possibly to play it safe. While the cult is heavily featured in the game’s advertising, my favorite parts were found on the sidelines. I really enjoyed the specialist system, and I'm looking forward to seeing something like it in other shooters. Far Cry can sometimes feel very lonely, even in such big, vibrant worlds, so it was a delight to have some AI friends to hang out with.
This is a series that’s gotten very good at what it does, and although the cult narrative can be considered a risk, it’s not the type I’m interested in seeing Far Cry make. Far Cry Arcade is almost the complete opposite in tone, and you bet I’m going to be messing around with the level creator after the game finally launches. I have at least one project in mind for a specific ally to try out. Play the game co-op, if you can! It makes a world of difference.
