General Update

Hello patrons, 

I’m starting to wonder if any of you read these things, but never the less, I feel compelled to share. Recently I looked at the “exit surveys” for folks who stopped subscribing as a patron. Most answers were typical, but there was a few “I thought Foot would share more.” So here I am, sharing more. Anyone who’s been subscribed a while knows that I ebb and flow. Sometimes I post multiple times in one month, and other times I’m MIA for months at a time. Ok anywayyy!

My heart is so full and my body is soooo tired. After a long weekend of TCBG, formerly known as Trapper Creek Blue Grass, but this year titled Tipsy Clown Boogie Grounds, I’m pooped. Thursday at 8pm I started the festival off with my first musical set since returning to Alaska (last week). It was cold. Rainy. My bones hurt. Honestly, the set started off quite terribly with a failed clown bit and an aching body. By the end though, I managed to have fun and the feedback was very kind. 

I felt a sense of melancholy for New Orleans and the folks I’ve been playing music with there. I really wished they were on stage with me. I wished it was warm. I have a healing right shoulder, from being fractured and dislocated and a never ending bruised left thumb. Physical therapy starts this week, so I’m glad to be ”on the road to recovery.” 

As the drizzle carried on, I found secret layers in my car. A wool blankey was bestowed upon me. I sat by campfires under tarps with friends I have missed so fucking dearly. Each sweet sweet face and reuniting hug warmed up my cold soul a little more. I am so so so glad to be home, despite acclimating to that southern Louisianan heat. I am grateful for this expansive friend group and community in Alaska that I get to call family. 

For the rest of the weekend, I clowned around and heard about these mysterious wizards brewing about. On Sunday, after many folks began to leave Boot’s Bison Ranch, the sun came out for us. By Monday I wanted to sleep for an eternity. I am glad to be back in Alaska. Here‘s a photo Courtney Rose took of me this weekend.
