Happy you reacted to this. Was the last movie I saw with both my parents in the theater before everything changed. So I donβt know how to see it as a movie like most. Itβs just an anecdotal heavy piece of beautiful emotion to me. Judging by the length of someone elseβs reply above, seems Iβm not alone in a way.

That made this even more enjoyable Lmao at referring to Hopkins as Hannibal When Brad is sleeping with Susannah.. "I bet Alfred is sick!" "Did they have condoms back then? 2022-06-20 17:28:28 +0000 UTCThis might be long, forgive me, but its one of my all time fave movies and a fave of mine and my brothers who passed away, so I have a deep connection with this film and some others. JL, as I figured this was the most satisfying reaction by you so far, for me at least, and I've pretty much binged all your reactions. First off, I'm already loving that Tristan is automatically one of your fave characters you ever seen. Interesting fact, when this movie came out a crapload of kids were named Tristan lol, In fact I was going to name my son Tristan too but I only had a daughter. There is an ongoing joke on youtube videos about this movie, that if you have a brother that looks like Brad Pitt don't ever take your woman to meet your family π JL, one of the beautiful things as you said about this movie was the scenery and music, the Director Edward Zwick is one of my favorite directors, his films always have an epic music score by James Horner (RIP), or Hans Zimmer, and always has beautiful cinematography. Legends of the Fall won the Oscar for best cinematography over Forrest Gump and Shawshank Redemption (2 other great films). If you loved this movie, you will also love his movies Glory (with Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman), and The Last Samurai with Tom Cruise, and then Defiance with Daniel Craig, all war films. Other than Defiance, his films are usually told thru letters written and narrated by the characters in the film, I love that. Early in Legends of The Fall when Tristan was a kid the Indian, One Stab talks about how every warrior searches for a good death and Tristan went looking for his with that bear as a kid. Then the end, he said "It was a good death". Definitely poetic. That same theme about having a good death follows in The Last Samurai. I don't think Alfred was 100% innocent but I did feel bad for him bc he really did love Susannah. Tristan left her bc he felt so much guilt and pain over his brothers death, and I think the longer he was with Susannah the worse his guilt would be. My opinion. The ending when Alfred comes through was very deserved in the film, the story was great and this is a masterpiece in my opinion. It got overlooked a lot at the time bc it was at a moment where Brad was looked at as the heart throb of Hollywood and all the media talked about when this came out was his long beautiful hair lol I know its a Patreon exclusive, but I cant wait for the day you put it on YouTube, I think followers are going to love it. Btw, Decker the father to Isabel Two, yes that was him in that wanted poster. I loved how JL wanted to start taking scalps haha That scene where Brad goes to war by himself, epic. Brad Pitt and Anthony Hopkins have GREAT chemistry and they also star in Meet Joe Black together, another great film in my opinion, Brad plays death who comes to Earth in human form and uses Hopkins as a guide on Earth in exchange for Hopkins having more time on Earth. Great concept. Great film, great music. I have been waiting ever since hoping they make a 3rd film together before its too late. As for why Susannah cut her hair before killing herself, Ive seen many peoples opinions on that, I personally think it was to make herself look ugly as she felt inside to kill herself. Very tragic film, She loved Tristan and couldnt have him, Alfred loved her but she didnt want him, Tristan found peace with Isabel and lost her, and all destruction started by losing Samuel. beautiful film of love, war, family and betrayal. Thank you for reacting to this, you will love it more on the 2nd watch. A lot of parts you made me laugh but Im glad you were touched, I feel the scenery was a character in the film. So beautiful.
