This was the first time I ever saw Robin Williams do some serious acting. I was blown away. And this is his best improv, I think. I ran out and bought the soundtrack (on cassette) right after this movie came out! I adore this movie, but my favorite of his roles is in "Awakenings." Blank - you listening????

We get the full force of his considerable comedic talent mixed with some fine dramatic moments. This was really Robin's first attempt at more serious acting and I think he knocks it out of the park. Actor J.T. Walsh played Sgt. Maj. Dickerson. He did have a small role as the State Trooper in MISERY and you might know him from A FEW GOOD MEN. Walsh had a long career as a character actor and showed almost everywhere in small roles. I'm glad to hear that Dickerson made the ain't s*** list, he earned it. Some people just enjoy inflicting misery on others. That's bad enough in civilian life but put that personality in uniform and it can go to a whole new level of petty. The twin news checkers were played by Dan and Don Stanton whom you would have seen as the security guard at Sara Conner's mental facility in Terminator 2. The fact that they were twins enabled one to be duplicated then killed by the T-1000 without camera trickery. Bruno Kirby as Lt. Hauk and Robert Wuhl as Marty Lee Dreiwitz are both very talented comics in their own right. I'm so glad you enjoyed this fine, thought provoking bit of humor.
