JLoween Week 3 Poll (Slashers)
Added 2022-10-06 19:34:03 +0000 UTCFor JLoween Week 3, it's the slasher's turn. Since J has seen a couple of famous slasher films already on the channel, we are gonna give a few of their sequels a shot. J has seen Friday the 13th, but he's never actually seen Jason. He's seen Freddy, but never saw him being funny. He's seen Michael, but he only saw half of his first night. And Chucky and Pearl, not at all. Poll runs til Monday morning.
So...which gore loving maniac hunting down occasionally innocent yet usually stupid victims is it gonna be?
Comments
Dudes and ladies and all shades in between! Movies are fun! JL is funny, intelligent, and lives inside his own heart! 's why we're here.
Silly people say silly things. To quote Frozen: "F' You!" (mighta got that slightly wrong. đ€)

Let's refrain from writing sermons about sinners (I plead Guilty) and all just talk about why the candy we like is sweet. Truly: break me off a peace of that.

Love and movies. Love and movies.

2022-10-10 02:13:00 +0000 UTCyah, that's exactly right. I've seen all of JL's reactions, even movies I've never seen or had no interest in. I know I'm gonna laugh, and that's gonna make my day better. It's really that simple for me

2022-10-10 01:23:08 +0000 UTCIkr? I'll take a classic over that one any day.
2022-10-09 06:35:35 +0000 UTC"You could switch out the villains in Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Child's Play, trade them for one another, and they'd still work as the same movie." Tell me you haven't actually seen those movies without telling me you haven't actually seen those movies.
2022-10-09 06:33:36 +0000 UTCWhile Nick was at least polite and reasonable about it, I would still point out that it's six of one half dozen of the other no matter how you slice it. I come here for a few different reactors. Whether it's a whole month of horror or whether they're putting up a mix of genres, it doesn't matter to me, because I know within a 30 day span of time, on average I'm probably only going to watch two movies tops while I'm there for the month. It's no big investment to me to put down my five or ten bucks for only two movies. If I check out their Youtube channels I can see what other movies they've done and I might just decide to go back and revisit an old post, since I'm paid up for the month. To bitch and moan because you pay money and don't like every single movie that goes up is pointless, because it's impossible to come to these platforms and be such a movie buff that you have never seen a movie released that just didn't do it for you. I come here for the fun of seeing the movies I do enjoy just to see JL's reaction, (and his dogs give him looks when he starts freaking out about horror jump scares). Frankly, I can tell you there is one particular "classic" slasher movie that I personally was not impressed with when I first saw it, but I have already watched JL and two other reactors do it because their reactions were hilarious as fu*k. That's why I come to these things. JL is here to watch the movies he's never seen. It's his journey/experience and we're just invited along for the ride, if we choose to come. Maybe just don't take this whole thing so seriously.

2022-10-08 04:35:57 +0000 UTCWhoa...just discovered that Oscar-loser Frank Darabont (Shawshank, Green Mile, The Mist writer/director) cowrote Dream Warriors. I'm gonna have to revisit Elm 3 as I kinda wrote it off long ago, but also nigh-completely forget it. Fun!

2022-10-08 03:45:58 +0000 UTCI hate to bother y'all... I knew it said "provide your own copy of the movies" buuuuuuuut what's the best way to do this & get the best experience? I cast my phone to my TV but then I still need to watch the movie too. đ€ Hopefully I can figure it out.

2022-10-08 01:11:14 +0000 UTCFormulaic, crowd-pleasing tripe is unfun and tired.
Totally unrelated: normal movie Braveheart won 5 Oscars, including Best Picture.

2022-10-08 00:44:04 +0000 UTCCould y'all change your format to only movies I like, because all other movies are stupid poopy?
What's that? I'm not a pretty, pretty princess who gets whatever I want?

Ok, cool. But not cool that y'all made me become your patron without accepting my demands first.

What's that? You didn't force me to be here? You sure? Jimminy. Sorry...the voices in my head argue sometimes. I can tell you more about it; where do you sleep at night? Promise I won't wake you - I'll just whisper what The Voices need.

And...scene. đ€

2022-10-07 23:54:56 +0000 UTCHe doesnât speak for all your fans, and certainly not for us! We are thoroughly enjoying JLOWEEN and canât wait to see what comes next. That said, we will also enjoy when you return to other genres in November. We love it all! Some may not like horror, but that doesnât mean itâs not a legitimate genre with a large and passionate fan base.

2022-10-07 22:34:07 +0000 UTCAll of that is cool and all BUT I have been telling people for the last 3 months this was coming. I told yâall we we will upload some none horror stuff over during this month but this is something that has been spoke about for a long time. You being upset would be more understandable if it was just a surprise or last minute decision. Iâve promised people we was going to do it and Iâm not going back on that promise. Just like if I promised you something I would keep my word on it.

2022-10-07 21:14:46 +0000 UTC@Nick, and I totally respect the way you said that. And we do realize that not everyone will love a month of one genre, but Ken has been here long enough to not act surprised and complain on every post about it. As weâve said, this is the one genre we held back on for the last few months, and it was all for this month. If we had done more than 1-2 horror films a month max recently, heâd have more of a point. And we do know everyone wont like every pick. Weâre just happy most can be adults about it. We can't make everyone happy all the time, which is expected, but people acting like their opinion supersedes anyone else's get tiring. So again, thank you.

2022-10-07 21:09:13 +0000 UTCI'm not on-board with righteously ranting about this, cause this is supposed to be about entertainment, and most people seem to be entertained by the horror stuff. This isn't a MasterClass course (no offense, JL). I'll just point out that while I (and hopefully others) don't get irritated by the occasional horror movie, when it's a whole month, and people are paying monthly fees .... there are gonna be some irritated people. (For the record, I'm doing okay so far, cause for every slasher there's a Hereditary, which slapped.)

2022-10-07 21:00:45 +0000 UTCI donât like every movie he watches. If itâs one Iâm not a big fan of, I support but skip that one and wait for one I do like. Thereâs even movies I donât like but will watch because I am entertained by the reactions. I think this month will provide me with a lot of good laughs because of the reactions even if I donât like every movie.
2022-10-07 18:48:39 +0000 UTCThen donât watch them. Donât watch anything we post until November if you feel that strongly. Plenty of other channels, even big ones, dedicate most or all of October to horror. Get used to it. People have been asking fo most all of these movies since April or May. And weâve planned it that way (and been very vocal about it) since the spring. And, no offense intended, but they donât care one bit about academy awards or whether or not you personally want to see them or not. I donât think you speak for our audience here or on YouTube quite as much as you believe you do. Appreciate the support, but these long winded and WAY too pretentious âwell, I donât like it, so you shouldnât do it, regardless of what anyone else wants or thinksâ posts are getting old really, really, REALLY fast.

2022-10-07 16:38:07 +0000 UTCDude NOBODY CARES that you don't like slashers or JLO-ween. Horror movies are every bit as legitimate to the medium as all other genres, and millions upon millions of movie fans utilize October as their month to dip their toes back into scarier fare. If you don't like slashers hooray for you but just keep your mouth shut for a single month instead of criticizing people who are actually doing a lot of work to entertain viewers. My god people can be ENTITLED. Edit: Also Silence of the Lambs won Best Picture since you value the Oscars so much, and furthermore judging a film's quality on awards is HILARIOUSLY juvenile. Driving Miss Daisy beat Do the Right Thing, Crash beat Brokeback Mountain. The Oscars have always been a joke.

2022-10-07 16:21:28 +0000 UTCIf slasher movies were any good, they'd be getting academy awards. There's a reason they don't, because they are largely formulaic garbage. Same for 99% of horror films, which is why dedicating a month to them is such a mistake. If you put any "normal" movie on a poll with half a dozen horror films, the normal movie will win the poll every time. That should tell you something about what the audience / subscribers / patreons really want. This poll is just a bunch of super forgettable sequels to forgettable slasher flicks. I would not want to see Friday the 13th, let alone a sequel to it. Same for Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc. You can make the psychokiller an insane kid or a magic doll or the ghost of a tortured child or whatever, doesn't matter because in the end you just have them go around killing a bunch of people with jump scares and gore. Nothing original to it. Nothing interesting. Compare that to seeing a movie where you have no idea what's going to happen -- when is it set, is it drama or comedy or thriller, whose the villain if there even is one, is it epic spanning decades or centuries or does it all take place in one night, is it intellectual or low-brow, etc. -- the "not knowing" is a huge part of the enjoyment. That's why the first Lethal Weapon was fun, because buddy cop movies with one loose cannon and one uptight cop, with a screaming sergeant, was a new thing. Then dozens of copy-cats came out and while some were okay, they were all predictable and thus less fun. Slasher movies are all predictable. You could switch out the villains in Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, and Child's Play, trade them for one another, and they'd still work as the same movie.
