First Time Watching Way of the Gun!!!

Crow...were you thinking of IceBreaker (2000)? Which has a weirdly solid cast but embarrassingly looks like a poorly made student film from 1983?

We were discussing Way of The Gun and are now a step away from taking about Crimewave, the (sadly bad) Campbell movie made by the Coens + Raimi in '85.
Kevin Bacon must be in this mix somewhere.

Man, this is one of my old favorites and one that nobody has ever heard of. Really glad to see you guys cover this one.

JakJMK

You know what gets me? There was a movie where Campbell got snowed in at a restaurant. But he had to figure out who was the big bad (imposter) with all of the people still alive.

Odd pairing there, gotta say.

Heh. Bubba Hotep. I definitely might have a DVD of that in a box in a closet (apropos, yes?).
Campbell gems worth seeking are Waxwork 2 (1 is fun, but skippable) and Sundown The Vampire in Retreat.

Both are excellent 80's candy! Bruce is only slightly in each, tbc.

Hotep

I won't get you started on backdraft as long as you don't get me started on bubba hotel as the best film ever filmed.

Risky business is a good one. But so is slither to be honest.

(not trying to be mean; just aiming for a laugh, tbc.)
✌️🖖, yall

The shade lololol

Like the Coens, McQuarrie reinvents classic stories. This flick is Butch Cassidy...Usual Suspects is The Great Gatsby...it's a common thingy in screen writing. Apocalypse Now is the victorian novel Heart of Darkness, sure.
(don't get me started on Backdraft).

Books are Make-em-ups, like movies, but only using Wordle answers. They're silly and unrealistic. The Bible's a popular one.

g g gooding

i did not know that.

YoureMrLebowski

what's a book?

YoureMrLebowski

how about a Risky Business (1983) reaction? a very underrated tom cruise movie (currently 2 reactions available to the viewing public).

YoureMrLebowski

I'm trying to read Mason Dixon by Pynchon right now. No promises about finishing it.
But indeed: 👍 to book readers!

I actually knew this. Cuz I own a copy of the 1885 book "the last of the great scouts". Shoutouts to anyone that reads books in 2023.

Additionally the location of the final shootout - exact same one used in the '69 Butch Cassidy movie.

I was today years old when I learned this. LoL

Blank EOM

Y'all prob already know this, but the names Parker and Longbaugh are the real-life names of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

g g gooding

Love that Silverman is named "Raving Bitch" in the credits.
And the punch looks great because Phillippe accidentally knocked her out for realsies.

Def top 5-10 for me. I laugh EVERY single time. LoL

Blank EOM

Thank you JL and Blank, you guys are terrific

Garrett

This movie has probably the best intro scene IN HISTORY!!!
