I had some truly nerdy hobbies growing up. Dungeons & Dragons, Magic: The Gathering cards, all that stuff. I started introducing my friends from sports to those hobbies when I was in high school, and eventually took a couple to a hobby shop. That's when I learned that some people just don't want anybody new to like the thing they've already built their identity around. You'd think they'd be on board with a jock thinking their Dungeons & Dragons game is cool. Turns out, nope.
