First Time Watching The Outlaw Josey Wales!!!

Comments

my great-great grandmother was Josphen Lovett, it was her mother that i was told was on the trail, I know she was Cherokee. i don't have much history or any of the paperwork you need to prove it to get one of those ID cards, I just have an old tin type photo of her. I have another great great-great-grandmother on my Dads side but i don't have a name or history and my grandparents who would know have passed away

frost1977

What was her name? I am a student of western history. Plus, I served four year's in the Army at Fort Sill. That's where Geronimo was jailed until his death.

Chris Baldwin

Is outlaw Josey Wales reaction going on YouTube??

Jason Kase

" It was a dirty , stinky , smelly time in the Old West town..."

Madmanmarz1981

keeping clean was not a priority in the real old west. most of history up until indoor plumbing was really a thing the world as a whole was likely kinda smelly.

frost1977

my great-great-grandmother was a child on the trail of tears, the Indian nation is now Oklahoma

frost1977

If i remember right Kansas and MO, had there own mini civil war during the civil war. looking at the start of the film, and there were groups like the red legs who were more outlaw than soldiers.

frost1977

@Frost To be fair, there's a lot of times (not even saying this thread), where it's way more bashing than discussing. LoL

Blank EOM

I know he's acted in over 55 or so and directed over 40 or so.

Blank EOM

they should have whistled Dixie - its a catchy tune and they would have lived longer. I guess that is probably my favorite scene in the film.

frost1977

Does anyone know how many movies clint Eastwood has made?

Big Frank

I hate that he keeps spitting on the dog. He admits the dog is an outcast just like all of them so the abuse is even more inexplicable and outrageous.

Bennett Holleman

I’ve made him watch multiple movies where people kill dogs. He’s good. LoL

Blank EOM

You don’t have to apologize for that. It’s just a movie I know Clint love dogs and he wouldn’t purposely hurt one. I don’t want you to feel like I’m upset or even offended bc that’s not the case. It’s characters in movies that do things all the time I don’t agree with and I still love those characters and I still love those movies. The Joker has blown up a school bus full of kids and I still love that dude.

JL

In my defense, I did not remember how many times Eastwood Spit on the Dog. I apologize to J and you. And anyone else offended by this.

Chris Baldwin

I honestly enjoyed the movie. I even loved the fact that the dog stood up to him and was ready to fight for him when needed. This is a very good movie and you already know I love one man army movies. Clint Eastwood was basically that the whole movie

I can see, or hope I see, some "Every Which Way But Loose" in your future. Time you were introduced to the co-star "Clyde". I would really like you to react to Clint's film "Two Mules for Sister Sarah" too. There's no way you wouldn't like it. Especially the plot twist!! I already told Blank my August pick, but it's going to be western's from there on. Don't take it so personal about the dog J. It made a point of showing that dog NEVER backed down from Josey. To me, that was the point being made. Hope you got some enjoyment watching this. If not, I'm sorry and I'll try harder next time. Why no all western's poll??

Chris Baldwin

I used to be a security guard at Warner Bros/Columbia (The studio from Animaniacs) during the mid-late 80's, and the Malpaso productions building was the one building Security was banned from entering. Rumor has it, some guard on his rounds walked in on him and Locke in the act. He was still amazing to us, there was no one he didn't treat super well.

Victor Casas

Eastwood gave Sandra Locke a part in this film because he was dating her at the time. She also played in one of the "Dirty Harry" film's. It was the same in "Unforgiven". He was involved with the actress that played "Strawberry Alice".

Chris Baldwin

Thanks for the replies.

AdrianF

Thanks, I'll pick it up.

AdrianF

Eastwood had his own film production company, called MALPASO. He was an excellent horseman. You see how he puts down the two of their horses, and then is in the saddle when his horse stands up. You/we need more Eastwood. I would love to give you the film "Dirty Harry". Well see...

Chris Baldwin

There is NO sequel to this to my knowledge, so?? Clint started acting in the 1950's in the western TV show "Rawhide".

Chris Baldwin

This was is a standalone, so you're good. Nothing needs to be seen first to watch it.

Blank EOM

Love, Love, Love that J is watching more westerns. :) It's a dying/dead genre which I feel needs a good comeback...if done right of course. ;)

Echo Moon

There is a sequel, The Return of Josey Wales (1980) which I haven't seen but it is not reviewed well. Outlaw is the first one and most people only watch it and not the second one. :)

Echo Moon

Oh this is gonna be good 👍🏻

Kim

I'm completely lost on Clint Eastwood movies (and Westerns in general). Is this part of a linked series or standalone? i.e., do I need to watch anything before this one? Ta
