2023 Week 33 Poll: Mixed Bag of Stuff JL wants to watch Poll!!!

Another week, another poll, and another list of movies that caught J's attention.   It's been a long weekend for me, so this poll was all J's picks.   Oh, and as a note, Fallen and Something the Lord Made are BOTH recorded, I just have to get them exported and put on here.   My laptop had some issues last night, or they'd both already be on here.   So look for those two later today before the Casino premiere, and Hatari and Vanilla Sky will be here tomorrow (hopefully), which will finally catch us all back up on Patreon and schedule responsibilities.   So much love and appreciation for everyone for understanding and working with us after a weird and stressful month.  But now it's time to hit the ground running and REALLY get this show on the road now that J and I are both full time.

Anyway, you all know the drill, this poll will run til next Monday morning, so get those votes in as soon as you can and let's see what movie is gonna be our lead in to J visiting a Galaxy Far, Far, Away......

12 angry lost by one vote???!!!

Big Frank

if 12 angry men wins I may have to switch up my Sept pick. Give J something else with Henry Fonda while J's memory is fresh. Ft. Apachie, in harm's way or Midway 1970. was planning rio B or patton but may switch it up.

frost1977

Beauty and the Beast for the win! Pls. Ps hi everyone. I'm new here. Love you J!

Sunami Stelling

12 Angry Men is a MUST! I show it every year to my middle school students!

Tiffany Prater

Rooting for 12 Angry Men. Toodlescae from Youtube.

Annette Elliott

See No Evil, Hear No Evil does not get the love it deserves, I hope J watches it. I also agree about Erin Brockovich.

Kelly Hailey

We gotta get Erin Brockovich on one of these lists...EDIT: along with See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Silver Streak, and Stir Crazy...

skitz

I don't think I've seen that. In 1997 everyone working in the Cast House where I worked pouring molten Aluminum into 1,500 pound sow mold's went on 12 hour shift's. So, I was either working, eating or sleeping. Nasty, dirty and very hot work. Anyway, I would love to watch the remake with J. I won't look it up. But, I'm most interested in the casting of the remake. By all mean's, make J watch it! LOL

Chris Baldwin

I REALLY enjoyed the 97 TV remake as well. That cast was an all-timer. Hope to get him to watch that one eventually as well

At the 30th Academy Awards, "12 Angry Men" was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay. It is regarded by many as one of the greatest films ever made. It shows all the unique personalities of people. We all know someone playing a part in it whom we can relate to At least .one out of the 12 anyway. Some people say it was all filmed in, for the most part, one room, so was easy to make. Imagine how difficult it was to frame each shot. The tracking shot at the start is a masterpiece of filming and dialog. I think J will appreciate this film and its relevance, even today.

Chris Baldwin

i will agree with that i am going to change my vote from B&B

This is tough. Mean Girls will make a great reaction, Beauty and the Beast is among Disney's best but every human being should see 12 Angry Men. It is one of the greatest films of all time. Speaking of great films, I hope All About Eve makes it to the poll one day.

Kelly Hailey

Huge Stephen King fan so if the Stand ever pops up Ima be there.

Corey

Gosh... These 2 movies are neck and neck!!!

Big Frank

I think some people nowadays take Dr. Strangelove too seriously at first because it's in black and white (and maybe because it's a Kubrick film), so it's harder for them to appreciate the darkly absurd humor. Definitely one of my favorite comedies.

KM

This is a tough one - I love 12 Angry Men, Dr. Strangelove, AND Mean Girls, but they're all so different that it's hard to pick just one. 12 Angry Men is a classic, just incredibly well done. Dr. Strangelove is one of my all time favorite comedies but isn't as funny if the viewer doesn't know a bit about the Cold War (at least through the early 60s) and the widespread panic surrounding the possibility of nuclear warfare. And Mean Girls is ridiculous and one of the most quotable movies I've ever seen.

KM

I saw Beauty and the Beast when I was young n it left a strong impression on me. So it got my vote no contest. Now I'm 34 n I've rewatched many times and the story, the music, the emotion all 5 stars. To date still in my top 3 Disney films of all time. 😍 ♥ I haven't seen 12 angry men so I wouldn't mind watching along with you so a win/win.

Corey

I'm a bigger kid than my 8 year old nephew so Beauty and the Beast gets my vote. But I will say I ended up enjoying Mean Girls WAY more than I expected. It's funny as hell.

Tanesha H.

1991 beauty and the beast one of the very few animated films to be nominated for best picture at the academy awards if I am remembering right.

frost1977

I'm voting for the Stephen King's 1994 version of The Stand. Okay, okay, I voted for Dr. Strangelove. Peter Sellers - PERFECTION.

Heather

12 Angry Men is possibly the best movie I've ever seen in my life. It's a must-see for everyone. Phenomenal movie!

bunnygirl71

Voted for that 1991 gem! All your reactions I’ve seen are great, but I enjoy imagining your reaction to that one. Especially one particular character and song.

ChickensAreRacist

Always a tough vote. These are all bangers. 12 Angry Men is a must see though.

Webwyrm

While these are all worthy, I have to go with 12 Angry Men. The original - not the more recent remake. It's a classic with every actor at the top of their game. Even though it was made in the 1950s, it still holds up well today.

William Bilske

I am torn between 12 Angry Men and Dr. Stranglehold. Both are exceptional works of art. In the end, I had to go with Dr. Strangelove.

Hounddog Doggy Daddy!

My vote is for 12 angry men. It has so many great actors in it, especially Jack Klugman!! Love him! If we are looking at animated films then I would like to put these suggestions in the hat... The Hobbit (1977) and The Last Unicorn (1982).

Echo Moon

12 Angry Mean was a childhood favorite for me :-)

Hot Indie Media

12 angry men for me.

Big Frank

I’m not actually that impressed with the actual story here. It’s a fairly standard melodrama albeit one with narrower focus that aids in the claustrophobic setting the author hoped to create. The directing, camera work and the absurdly over talented cast are all absolutely top tier. They elevate this experience to near perfection, far beyond what the words on the script might indicate.

T.J. Gengler

'12 Angry Men' is a love letter to rationality. But 'Dr. Strangelove' is too damn funny to pass up.

CT

I know this channel is something special when every poll is chock full of things I'd like to see J react to. All of these wildly different movies are such great choices.

Benign Boar

Little torn about Dr Strangelove. I love the film but it does require that the viewer have a good, basic understanding of U. S. military doctrine and Cold War M.A.D. mentality. On top of that, you just need to remember what Joey Stallin said - “Black humor is like food. Not everyone gets it.”

T.J. Gengler

Oh man, 12 Angry Men. One of the best ever!
