2023-12-16 02:12:11 +0000 UTCJ, a Mare is just any female horse. Most of the old cowboy's preferred a Mare, because they were a little smarter and gentler for a cowboy working cattle. I don't think I ever saw this, since I was tied up raising a family. LOL But, it's a wonderful film from Rankin/Bass. Thanks Echo!!

This is what I call "Rankin/Bass" style cartoon. The animators who did the designs eventually broke away from Rankin/Bass and made their own animation studio...Studio Ghibli (you may have heard of them). The folks who sang the songs (except for the love song between Prince Lir and the unicorn lady) was the band America, they are a band that was popular back in the 70s/80s and they usually sang what I call "hippie" songs...they are one of my favorite bands to listen to from that era. (their most famous song was A Horse With No Name) And yes, Christopher Lee really was a "killer" back in the day. He was a literal James Bond secret service British officer who was in several wars as well as an RAF intelligence agent, he also spoke fluent French, Italian, and German, he was also an interrogator of war criminals, and when he was in Lord of the Rings the director told him to scream when he gets stabbed in the back on top of the tower but he said that is not what happens when someone is stabbed he said they gasp for air because they are so surprised...which means he had seen/heard enough people stabbed that he remembered what noise people make when that happens. And...he was in a death metal band for a little while. His life would be a great film!!
