I don’t think he understood her at all. Said she’s been through dick about 1,000 times without even acknowledging all the physical and sexual abuse she’s been subjected to. He did she’s deserves happiness but that kinda means nothing when you keep saying she’s trash and she’s been through dick. That girl was hurting so bad and didn’t think she deserved someone as great as Forrest. Only the me. That watch this movie talk shit on Jenny and the women are always understanding and can sympathize. I was actually disappointed by this reaction. I expected better from j since he’s usually so big hearted in his movie watching. Just didn’t impress me on this one.

I've seen so many people give Jenny shit and say she wasn't good enough for Forrest, but that's exactly why she couldn't be with him. She had so much trauma that she never felt that she deserved love which led her into a pattern of self destruction. It isn't until the end that she realized that Forrest is right, he does know what love is and it's she who doesn't. Goes to show how much impact your home has on a person. Like how Forrest didn't have an easy life, but unlike Jenny he always had a safe place to call home and people in his life who loved him unconditionally.

President Nixon sent people to burgle the Democratic National Committee offices, and it ended up with him resigning from office in 1974. President Gerald Ford - who had served as Nixon's VP and became President when Nixon resigned - pardoned Nixon "For the good of the country." That's the only reason Nixon didn't end up in prison. It's the reason why every political scandal now gets the word "gate" attached to the end of it. Oliver Stone did a movie about it, with Sir Anthony Hopkins (Hannibal Lecter) playing President Nixon.

I believe that was exactly one year before you were born, right, J? And the scene in the Watergate Hotel was basically Forrest breaking open the Watergate scandal, after which Nixon resigned as president. Oh, and a piece of useless trivia, but the New Year's party where Forrest disses the dirty ho was January 1st 1972, exactly eleven months before I was born :)

The feather, the song that Jenny/Bobbi Dylan sings. I mean come on! I wish Zemekis had an IG account. I’d bug the heck outta him to get him to confirm it.

2023-11-30 00:45:58 +0000 UTCI read the first book about 15 years ago and absolutely loved it but had heard that the 2nd book was born out of the author's dislike for how they handled the film adaptation. So I decided to pass on it although I always planned on checking it out at some point. Probably for the best to keep that in the rear view mirror from the sounds of it though. Also, if there's any readers out there then let me tell you that the Forrest Gump novel, written by Winston Groom is easily one of the funniest damn books I have ever read in my life. I won't spoil it in case anyone wants to read it but just to give an idea of how crazy it gets, Forrest is a huge pothead who becomes a professional wrestler and an astronaut. And that's just barely scratching the surface. It's definitely worth a read for sure.
