Hey JL I caught your reaction on Youtube last night. I am with your boy on this one, I think that this is the best Star Wars movie ever made. The arc that the characters go through and what they do to try and defeat the empire... giving up their lives... it really made the stakes very high and made me appreciate just how scary it would be to live under the thumb of that kind of oppression. However, I hear you on the Darth Vader moment though, because when I first saw this in theaters and he shows up in that ship emerging from the darkness and kicks everyone's asses... yeah sometimes its fun to root for the villain. Vader's lightsaber skills are the absolute best... but there may be one other Jedi whose better than him.

I just got done with the series Andor so it kinda put it all together. I didn't remember they died at the end.

I love that it shows the true heart of the rebellion, the everyday heroes going toe to toe with stormtroopers, or ship to ship with TIE fighters/Star Destroyers, wearing no plot armor and they give everything for a future they will never see and for people who will never know them. I can highly recommend the Star Wars tv shows like Andor, they did a really good job with them.

In another cameo/easter egg, the two guys that Jyn run into at one point (one guy had a pug face, and the other had "balls on their chin") are the same duo from Episode 4 that pick a fight with Luke in the cantina and are then killed by Obi-Wan.

2023-09-27 00:11:24 +0000 UTCClone/Storm/Vader's Fist/Deathtroopers: Clonetroopers are what you see in Episodes 2 and 3 (as well as all other Clone War-era appearances), but after the Clone Wars were over, the clone's were discontinued for the most part and Stormtroopers were introduced. Stormtroopers are real people and not clones. The black armor troops are Deathtroopers (not dark troopers. They are different. Saying more would be a minor spoiler.) Vader's Fist, which are Vader's personal elite team that is a mix of stormtroopers and remaining clone troopers. They aren't in Rogue One, since Vader got there right at the end. The T-15 reference is a bit of a confusing and messy one, in terms of how they are referenced in the movies. The most direct connection is that in Rogue One they talk about the T-15's being obsolete, and then when in Episode 4, when Obi-Wan is turning off the tractor beams, we overhear two stormtroopers talking about the new BT-16's coming out. As to what they are? Well, while Luke talks about bulls-eyeing womp rats on Tatooine, it's with a T-16 Skyhopper. It's not clear if these are exactly the same thing though, since other than that one sentence by Luke, every other reference to them is just as a piece of technology, but they never actually describe what they are talking about. So, basically it was a throwaway line referencing a throwaway line in Episode 4.

2023-09-26 12:35:09 +0000 UTCJ, The Andor Show Season 1 takes place 5 years before this movie, the 1st season covers that 1st of 5 years. Season 2 which is probably a year away from being released will cover the last 4 years, every 3 episodes will cover 1 year is what they have planned. The Andor TV show is just as good as this Movie. Also, The Star Wars Rebels Animated show is 4 seasons and covers the same timeline as Andor the ending of Rebels season 4 is right before this movie starts. You can hear the name of one of the Main Characters names called out on the loudspeaker in the rebel base and you can see the main ship in Rebels fighting in the battle at the end. I Strongly recommend watching Star Wars Rebels Before you start the live-action Mandalorian and the other shows that are a part of what is called the mandoverse, there are some things you will appreciate a lot more if you do so. The MandoVerse Needs to be watched in release order Mando 1 & 2 then at least the last half of the book of boba fett, then Mando S- 3 and then Asokha Season 1 [ashoka is very much a live action Season 5 of rebels. J when you see Grand Admiral Thrawn in live action, the Thanos of Star Wars, you will flip. Rebeles is also short 30-minute episodes most people who do reactions that I have seen do 2 or 3 episodes at a time. Andor can be watched whenever you want, just bear in mind that the second and final season is at least 1 year away

2023-09-25 22:07:25 +0000 UTCThe fact that this movie ends up being so damn good despite all of the problems they had making it, it is amazing. Rumors at the time of up to 40% of it being reshot (this figure doesn't seem to end up being accurate after the fact, though), full plot themes added/edited/removed, a new writer and director brought in late to "fix it up." It was a disaster of a production. Just watch the original teaser trailer for the movie and notice how much if it never even made the film. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frdj1zb9sMY . Obviously the trailer contains spoilers, so watch the movie first. One thing that I do love stayed in it is when K-2 (best droid in the franchise. Sorry R2. Sorry Danny Glover.) backhands Andor when captured, saying "and there's a fresh one if you mouth off again." You see Andor keeping his face covered. It was an ad-lib slap and he was trying not to laugh. It will never happen, but I would LOVE to see an "Original Directors Cut" of the movie just to see what could have happened.

2023-09-25 21:54:59 +0000 UTCThe Imperial that our main bad guy (Director Krennic) has beef with is Grand Moff Tarkin played Peter Cushing whom died in 1994 at the age of 81. Tarkin dies aboard the first Death Star at the end of the first Star Wars movie. They used a stand in for mocap and digitally altered the face to look like the late Cushing. This was done with approval of his estate and likely something he would have been happy of since he stated he was proud of his work in the first movie and wish his character did not die at the end of A New Hope so he could have been in the sequel Empire Strikes Back. Same with Carrie Fisher although she didn't pass until a couple weeks after Rogue One released in theaters.
