First Time Watching Creepshow!!!

Comments

My first time watching this. I hope it's good.

La Toya Sheri

My mom bought me all the tales from the crypt seasons, and I religiously watched them for years. I still watch them on youtube sometimes. The episode you are talking about is season 3 episode 4 called Abra Cadaver. Just in case you ever want to see it again.

Amy the CheshireCat

Yeah, those were the people who killed disc...lolol

Beverly Dancy

Wow Chris, you sound like a man after my own heart! My hubby and I have so many one sheets I cannot even count. :) One day we want to get nice lighted poster cases (like the ones at the theaters) to display them. I too enjoy the atomic sci-fi films, Them is a personal fav of mine. I also like Empire of the Ants even though it came out in 1977. One I haven't seen but plan to soon is Kingdom of the Spiders (1977) mainly because it stars William Shatner. Hubby and I each October pick a theme of films and watch one each week when he is home on his day off, last year was classic horrors like the OG Dracula, Frankenstein, Creature from the Black Lagoon, etc. The ones from the 30s/40s. This year it's atomic age/monster bug theme. Glad you chose the theatrical cut for Apocalypse because poor Blank would end up yanking his hair out and woulda been fully bald by the end of editing it if you had asked for the five hour version. LOL My hubby saw Apocalypse in the Los Angeles Cineramadome back in the 90s before they cut up and sectioned off the dome into smaller screens. He saw it on the one huge wrap around screen (along with 2001: A Space Odyssey) and he said it was one of the most astounding theater experiences in his life. Thank you for serving as well Chris. My dad was in the Navy and my hubby's dad was in the Army. I also have a brother in the reserves of the Nat'l Guard.

Echo Moon

Echo, I too love those 50's Atomic Sci-Fi film's. My favorite being "Them!". I collect movie poster's; lobby card's and more. A long time ago I was lucky enough to buy lobby card #7, showing Leslie and the famous "Robbie". It's one of the most loved in my collection. My living room is covered with one sheet poster's and lobby card's. There are two one sheet's from the Abbott & Costello filmography. "The Wistful Widow of Wagon Gap", and "A & C Meet Captain Kidd" with Charles Laughton. A rare color film by them. I remember every Sunday morning as a child, at 11:00 there was always an Abbott & Costello film. Sadly, Costello's son, Lou Jr., drowned in the family pool in 1943, at only one year of age. Lou Sr. died the year I was born, 1959. You're right to say "ugh" about the Brandy Alexander. They taste terrible. The only one that I DID like was sipping her Sloe Gin Fizz. Like a "Shirley Temple" with a drop of booze! Apocalypse Now" is to be the theatrical version. So, only two and a half hour's, and not the FIVE hour director's cut. LOL JL should know this film was released only five year's after the war in Vietnam ended. I saw it in a theater in Lawton, OK in 1979., while stationed in the Army at nearby Fort Sill, I joined the year I graduated High School, December 7th, 1977. So, all the Senior Drill Instructor's at Basic Training saw combat in Vietnam, so think R. Lee Ermey, only meaner!! LOL

Chris Baldwin

Honestly Chris, that sounds too gross!! But I shouldn't say anything, my mom drank boilermakers occasionally....ugh.

Echo Moon

Hey Blank, I know right? It's so neat to see Leslie Nielson doing other genre acting. Hubby and I just got done watching him in The Forbidden Planet (1956), a great old "atomic age" 50s sci-fi where Leslie has actual color in his hair before his silver hair days. He plays a captain in a spaceship, back before he started getting into comedies. :)

Echo Moon

Thanks Chris! BTW, I love Apocalypse Now, it's a great movie for JLoween..."the horror, the horror". LOL

Echo Moon

J mentioned a few times that he was amazed at seeing Leslie Nielson not do straight comedy. He loved it. LoL

Blank EOM

Another winner Echo!! Part two, I agree, has a more interesting story line, or line's. The vignette's are more interesting. But, the Leslie Neilson story stands out in this "Creepshow", as the creepiest! LOL I chose "Apocalypse Now" for October. Hope you enjoy. Also hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Chris Baldwin

I haven't seen this since I was a kid and I forgot how creeped out I was with the bug one. To this day, I am terrified of bugs. Yes, that was Stephen King who played the country boy. He usually makes a guest appearance. George Romero directed this and he was the one who did the original Night of the Living Dead and several others. He was truly a legend.

Miss Gigglebox

Just the last story to be honest...that's the best!!

Beverly Dancy

Watching this makes me want to see J react to Trilogy of Terror. Hehehehe

Shediva

There is a story from Tales From the Crypt like that? Interesting, because, yeah Stephen King did write a story pretty much exactly as J described it which aired on the Nightmares and Dreamscapes mini series. It was in one of his books and funny enough I believe I remember hearing him talk about having based that story on an old Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode. I saw that one too.

Renee S

Hi Jen & Nat, I picked this one. So happy that a lot of folks like this film!! :)

Echo Moon

Thank you to the person that picked this. This is one of my favorite movies! This is going to be so good! 😄

Jennifer & Natalie

Have you seen the documentary Just Deserts? Great Creepshow Documentary. Loads of cool fun.

Madmanmarz1981

My #1 Horror Anthology of all time. I know this one backwards and forwards. Tons of fun facts in this one. One very fun fact is that the ashtray from Fathers Day is in each story if you look for it. And over 18,000 live roaches were used in They're Creeping Up On You . I could go on about this movie for days. Hehe. Thank you for this one. I will say , you should really do Trick R Treat. An other amazing anthology.

Madmanmarz1981

I'm a huge Stephen King fan, buy every book the day it comes out, sees everything based on his work, even love Maximum Overdrive, but God his segment in this is painfully bad. It's not even bad in a fun way. Just an absolute disaster. It hurts to even watch. If I didn't want to resync my watchalong, I'd skip his whole segment. So glad Steve got off the cocaine.

Aceldamia

I think it's Tales from the Crypt Abra Cadaver. Starring the fuck boy bestfriend from Ghost

LeSheezy

The drink is called a "Brandy Alexander". It's just heavy cream mixed with a shot of Brandy. My mother would sometimes drink them, when she went out with the girl's.

Chris Baldwin

Hell yeah!!!!!!!!! Love this movie so much. Can. Not. Wait.

Potato Jones

I am glad you liked my pick J. :) I figured Creepshow would be a nice easy slide into the upcoming JLoween. Personally, I think Creepshow 2 has better stories, but felt you should start with the first film. Perhaps you can watch Creepshow 2 as one of your lighter JLoween films? You were right, that was Steven King turning into space weeds. He has said he was so blitzed on the cocaines that he barely remembered being in the movie!! Creepshows aren't really scary films, but they are interesting and fun. :)

Echo Moon

Ed Harris's dance moves...now *that's* horror.

g g gooding

The boy at the beginning is Stephen King's son Joe. He's a writer these days as well.

Renee S

What a surprise! This one doesn't get a ton of love from reactors. But you can't go wrong with Stephen King and George Romero at the helm. The show you're talking about with the guy on the autopsy table sounds more like it was Nightmares and Dreamscapes. Adaptations of Stephen King short stories that aired on TNT back about fifteen some years ago. I have the DVD set. There's a particular one on there that fits with things happening today and it's pretty creepy in hindsight 😦

Renee S

Oh, this will be good!

Evakatrina Anderson

This is an awesome movie

Big Frank

Yessss can't wait. Bought the 4k a few months ago, been waiting to watch it.

kbobravo

Webwyrm
