First Time Watching Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens!!!

I really enjoyed this one. Opened so many possible storylines. Then came Last Jedi ( Your dogs chew toy looks like what Last Jedi actually is.)

In the opening scene when the old guy gives Po the map, then gets killed... the old man is Max Von Sydow, you would probably remember him as Lancaster Merrin, screaming "The Power of Christ Compels you!!!!"...yes, from The Exorcist itself.

I actually really liked this film. The only ones I wasn't the biggest fan of were ep 1,2, and 3. But even so, I don't think they were bad, I just liked them less than the others.

some of those reasons fall into "Politics " and that is a whole other can of worms.

I think part of it is simply the size of the Star Wars fanbase, 3 generations. That and humans tend to be tribal, plus the internet allows people to be rude without the risk of consequences. I guess the one hope some of us have is in the mandoverse and if some of the rumors there prove to be true. at the very least it allows people to treat the sequels as if they are some alternate timeline or something, and with every franchise out there doing some kind of multi-verse thing now or so it seems. The prequels I can see why some think of them as bad movies [the actors themselves have said that George really didn't give much if any direction] but the story and events of what happens is still George, I know he offered an outline for the sequels but that was tossed.

Heartbroken for Chewie T.T

Your intro was hilarious!

I'm a vocal defender of the sequels! People are allowed to like and dislike things without being toxic about it. Force Awakens is my favorite SW film period. It holds such a place in my heart. I just love Star Wars so much.

There are some pretty big reasons that 8 went the way it did, though I am hesitant to mention them yet, just so the things don't influence any viewing. Can save it for those comments.

I agree people are free to dislike what they want, but the constant whining (a LOT of which has nothing to do with story, character, writing, etc) that usually borders on attention seeking is far from equally toxic as those who simply get tired of hearing it. I've never heard one person defend this trilogy a quarter as much as any of the people who like to clinch their fists and scream at the sky about it. And like I said above, a LOT of that screaming has nothing to do with any part of actual film making. Not all. But a LOT of it. And this isn't directed to you, just fandoms in general. Being a nerd for 35+ years has made me realize how much I absolutely love fans and how much at times I can absolutely despise fandoms. LoL The prequel trilogy and sequel trilogy definitely gave a lot of sway to the argument that nobody hates Star Wars worse than Star Wars fans. - Blank

this is the only one of the sequel films i can watch, even if it was JJ Abrams doing his just redo of what was done before, the same way he did with star trek. Fans have a right to not like what a filmmaker does with characters they have enjoyed for 30 years. I saw Return of the Jedi in theaters. There are Toxics on both sides, calling people names like hater is just as toxic, as people on the other side. The next one Ep 8 I have never been more disappointed leaving a theater, they did luke so dirty. There is only 1 other film that I dislike more than Last jedi.

So glad to see another Last Jedi fan on the page. It is BY FAR my favorite Star Wars film to come out since Empire. Hope J digs it!

I could watch the Star Wars films at any time Brother J!! Are some better than others, sure...could I not watch some ever again...possibly, but for folks to be all upset because you want to watch all of them makes no sense whatsoever. People should always have the chance to watch whatever they want, especially for the first time. Those people who say "this one is bad or that one is not worth watching" watched it themselves at some point so who are they to tell you to not watch something when they watched it too? They had a first time watch just like you are doing now. Don't listen to haters Brother J, there is nothing wrong with wanting to experience a film for the first time, or even the 100th time, as long as it's what you want to do and we are here to experience it with you, not judge you on what you want to see. We are here to join you on your journey of experiencing films/stories that you have never seen before.

Loved the reaction. And even tho there’s the loud vocal haters, I’m excited for you to see the next one. Might be my single favorite of the saga.

ChickensAreRacist

This is personally my favorite Star Wars movie!
