The studios were just milking the franchises to earn a cheap buck because they knew they'd earn money on tiny budgets with minimal effort. Jason, Chuck, Mike, Fred all had to suffer some awful movies. Thankfully the next Nightmare film was a return to form with Wes Craven coming back to direct with a wildly different take on the story. Look forward to seeing how that one lands with you.
