Added 2023-08-14 06:42:10 +0000 UTCYes, as in actual Trek, the saucer section is removed rarely and only in the most dire of circumstances, which this was, due to many technical hurdles to our delivering you this TNC livestream episode. The problems were finally worked out by Cap'n Mira, but a saucer section/star drive separation was necessitated (Stardrive [livestream, Pt 2] audio wherein we discuss the episode in depth to be posted following this post).
