I think the ability to ignore some of the problematic issues might depend on if you’re able to see yourself or people like you reflected in the Star Trek universe in a positive way. 🖖🏼

I agree with Matt, more Star Trek and less second-hand criticisms of other countries and cultures. You know, before removing the splinter in your brother's eye and all that. Quark's reaction to a clothed female was bizarre, not the custom. Here in Norway, breastfeeding in public is normal and a sleeping baby can be left outside a cafe while we're inside drinking coffee (see Anette Sørensen NYC 1997). I think Quark was demonstrating different customs and attitude, not that Ferengi culture was inferior or more oppressive. Here, a man walks down the street with no shirt on and no-one cares. A female does the same thing she could get arrested. Is the opposite Ferengi example so different from Let That Be Your Last Battlefield?

The way Seyetik reveals Fenna's real identity reminds me of that part in Holy Grail when Dingo appears and tells Sir Galahad that her naughty twin sister Zoot lit the beacon that drew him. The beacon just happens to be grail-shaped.
