The device wasn’t ready for human trials but an object as big as the truck would prove to be a fantastic achievement.
She fired up the machine, this was a portable version of the much larger version that sat on the other side of the parking lot. Miranda’s colleagues surrounded her, all watching with eager eyes. Miranda fired the ray and the truck was enveloped in a bright blue glow. Suddenly it started to shrink. Miranda fired again, and again. The truck started shrinking faster and faster. Everyone watched with amazement!
Unbeknownst to everyone there was a lone worker in the truck. Ben was a 20 something warehouse employee at the lab. He moved the truck during third shift and figured he could get away with sleeping for the remainder of the shift. Only problem was, he forgot to set an alarm. Now he was tiny and afraid. He jumped up and down trying to get the attention of anyone who would notice but everyone was to caught up in their conversations. He ran to try and get help elsewhere.
Satisfied Miranda’s colleagues congratulated her. All of them paying little attention to the now diminished truck. Some of them even nearly stepping on the vehicle. Out of the corner of her eye Miranda noticed the truck glowing again. She knelt down and examined it. The truck was still shrinking.
Miranda began to day dream, imaging a world where she ruled. A world where Science had no limits. She imagined cloning herself and discovering all the secrets of the universe. She could rule like a god! She snapped back to reality when her assistant informed her that Juliana Ventros wanted to see the larger Re-sizer work.
Juliana was the head of the lab. She walked over to Miranda, nearly stepping on tiny Ben. She demanded that Miranda test the device on her. Miranda informed her that the device wasn’t ready for human trials. Juliana didn’t care, she saw potential and wanted to take full advantage of it. Just as Miranda turned on the machine Juliana demanded that she switch it over to grow.
Miranda switched it over and fired it at Juliana. Suddenly Juliana began to grow. She grew and grew until she towered over buildings. Miranda thought of her day dream of being a god among men and realized that it was Juliana who would now be the god. As Juliana thundered away she left a wave of destruction in her path. People screamed and shouted, ran this way and that. To Juliana they were nothing but bugs. Juliana grew until several miles was a simple step for her. She was unstoppable and now it was time to show that to the world.
