Wedding Day Disaster

This was another story written by my ex. I tweaked a few details and added some bits but the vast majority is all her. One of kind that one.

It's our wedding day. We are in our respective rooms, about to get ready with our bridal parties. We are each in a room at the Boardwalk, on the same floor, but down the hall from each other. The coordinator will arrange when we leave so we don't see each other.

As you and the group are about to start putting on your tuxes, something strange happens. There is a flash of light, and when your vision clears, everything around you is huge. All of you have shrunk!

You all start talking at once, trying to figure out what happened and how to fix it. You decide the best thing to do is to try to get to my room and get the help of all the girls. But you are too tiny to open the door. And just too big to fit under the door. You decide to call Housekeeping. They can deliver extra towels, and when they open the door, you will run out.

You have to get up on the nightstand where the desk is. You and 3 of the guys start to climb up the bedspread. Slowly, struggling, you all make it up to the top of the bed. You run across the squishy bedspread to the head of the bed. When you get there, all 4 of you slowly step to the edge. You look at the gap between the bed and night stand. It looks far because you are so small. You look down, down, down. It's a long fall if you miss. But this is your only idea to be rescued.

You back up, and take a running start. It's tough running over the bumps in the comforter. But you make it to the edge and leap! You just barely make it. Teetering on the edge, you finally catch your weight and shift it forward, falling down on the top of the nightstand. The other guys follow you, one at a time. Jim is the last to jump and he almost falls. He is hanging on to the edge of the nightstand by his fingertips. You and Jeff run over, each grabbing an arm. Slowly, you help pull Jim up and on to the table with you.

The 4 of you run over to the phone. It looms over you, and it takes all of you to push the handset up and off the cradle. Paul jumps up on to the base and runs up to the "housekeeping" quick dial button. At the same time, you run over to the mouth piece of the phone. Jim runs to the earpiece. Paul jumps on the button as hard as he can, and the phone dials.

Housekeeping answers, but they can't hear you talking in a normal voice. Jeff is relaying what he hears to you. You yell in to the phone, getting as close as you can. They heard you! They will send extra towels up right away. As the line goes dead, you realize you should call me. Why didn't you think of that earlier?

Jeff jumps on the button to reset the dial tone and Jim and Paul jump on the buttons to dial my room. No answer. You try again, and I answer the phone. You yell in to the phone that something terrible happened. You and all the groomsmen have shrunk! You need me to come help you! I laugh, tell you that you are silly and I love you. I'll see you at the alter in a few hours. Then I hang up. You tell the guys what I said, and you all agree it's a good thing you have Housekeeping on the way. They will open the door for you. You will get down to my room and prove to me you aren't joking.

All 4 of you make the harrowing leap back over to the bed, clinging on to the bedspread. You slowly slide down, back to the ground and run over the the other guys. Mike, Alan and Josh join the group as you run to the door to wait for Housekeeping.

After what feels like a lifetime, there is a loud knock on the door. You all look up and the door looms over you. Another knock and a call of "Housekeeping!" After a pause, you hear the click of the door unlocking and then it starts to swing towards you.

You are too close! The door knocks Josh over and he gets stuck under it, dragging along the carpet, screaming in pain. His last words to you are yelling at you to go! Go get help! So the rest of you sprint to the edge of the door. As you round the corner, a black shoe comes down right in front of you. Jeff doesn't stop fast enough and runs in to the side of the shoe.

Regrouping, you jog a little more carefully towards the hallway. The other foot moves over you, and for a moment, you aren't sure if everyone is going to be out of the way when it comes down. You all make it, with Jim bringing up the rear. You can see just how close he came to being squashed by the other shoe.

Once you are all in the hallway, you stand in a group close to the wall, catching your breath. You look down the hallway. It's huge and looming and very very long. It is not going to be a quick trip down to my room. You guys decide to power walk. Who knows how far you will have to run? And you still need energy when you get to my room to figure out how to get in.

The journey down the hallway is fairly uneventful. There is no one around so far. You all start to relax, when suddenly a door opens towards you. Mike, the closest to the door, gets hit full on and goes flying backwards from the force. Jeff runs back to him to help him up. He is dazed, but ok.

You look up at the person leaving the room, standing so tall over you. You realize it's my hairdresser, leaving! You found my room and the door is open! You yell at the guys to hurry! The door is already starting to close. You all make it in, Mike just barely, with the help of Jeff. The door pushes you forward the last few inches before it closes.

You all stand in a line, looking in to the room. You see me and my bridesmaids, huge and walking around. We are mostly ready for the wedding. I have my heels on, but not my dress yet. You all run towards me, yelling and waving, hoping someone will hear you. As you cross in front of the bathroom door, Christina steps out. Most of you are able to dive forward, out of the way and to safety. But Jim wasn't fast enough. You watch, almost in slow motion, as her enormous high heel pump comes down, the ball of her foot crushing Jim as she steps down.

She turns towards you, and you all scatter towards the walls to get out of her way. You watch as her giant feet walk past you, trembling from the loss of Jim. She joins the rest of the girls along with me completely unaware by the horror she had just caused you and the rest of your tiny friends. This was the beginning of a long journey ahead.

You all start carefully walking further in to the suite, staying as close to the wall as you can. You, Paul, and Alan are on one side of the hallway; Jeff and Mike are on the other. As you approach the end of the hall, the room opens up and you see a huge scene in front of you. So many huge feet walking around. Some are in heels, some in slippers, some are bare feet. You can't tell who is who from your tiny perspective. All you see are feet and long, long legs attached to them.

The music get turned up, so you have no hope of yelling to get my attention. You will have to get higher to try to get in my line of vision. Jeff and Mike must have had an idea, because all of a sudden, they make a break for the middle of the room. Mike is still a little out of it, so he isn't as fast. Jeff reaches safety just under the edge of one of the beds. Mike isn't as lucky.

He trips and falls in the middle of the room, just as a barefoot is walking towards him. It's Katherine, heading toward the bathroom. She steps right on Mike. She doesn't even notice though, and just keeps walking. As she reaches the bathroom door, you can see the faintest outline of Jim’s lifeless body lying on the floor, before it disappears beneath Katherine’s foot.

Sarah notices Mike lying on the floor. He's tough, and Katherine only stepped on part of him. He's struggling to remain conscious as she picks him up. She doesn't look too closely, assuming he is just a bug. She walks over and casually tosses him in the trash can.

You, Alan and Paul make a break for the bed Jeff is under. As you get there, Paul uses his running momentum to jump up and grab the comforter. Slowly, he climbs up and makes it to the top of the bed. The rest of you look at each other, shrug, and start to climb to join him.

You ask Jeff where he and Mike were heading. He tells you he had no idea, but he knew he couldn't just keep standing against the wall, waiting to be crushed to death. You all make it to the top of the bed and see that Paul has made it to the top of the bed by the nightstand. He leaps the gap and lands next to a lamp. He starts to shimmy up the lamp base and after a few minutes, you see him pop up over the top of the lamp shade.

The rest of you start to cross the bed, trying to be aware of where all the girls are, keeping an eye out for if any of us decide to sit down on this bed. Almost as though you summoned us by thinking it, Christina and I come over and sit down on the edge of the bed. It causes a ripple to go through your ground and you all struggle to keep your balance; Ilan falls over.

Paul notices I am about to put my wine glass down on the night stand. As I do, he leaps off the lamp, hoping to land on my arm. He misses and splashes down in to my wine as I place it on the table. You all stare in horror. How is Paul going to get out of the glass? He's going to be drunk to death if he doesn't drown first.

I pick my glass up, and start to take a sip. I notice something floating in my wine and stick my finger in to get it out. I scoop Paul up with a huge finger. He clings on for dear life so he doesn't slide off back in to the glass. I don't look close enough to the little speck I fished out of my wine. I just grab a Kleenex and wipe him off on to it. As I crumple it up, you see Paul scrambling to free himself before he gets trapped.

You have been so wrapped up in watching what was happening to Paul, so forgot to pay attention to where the other girls were around you. Christina has shifted on the bed and you see her hand coming down to lean on the bed, right over your heads. As you run across the mattress, her sharp nails are coming closer and closer.

Alan is not fast enough. As Christina puts her weight back on her hand, one of her nails pierces Alan and then the rest of her finger squishes him. You stare in disbelief as you watch Alan’s body disappear under the giant hand.

You and Jeff look at each other and realize you didn't see where I took Paul. I am on the other side of the room and you can't find the Kleenex. Stephen suddenly takes a running leap off the bed. You run to the edge of the bed and look down to see him running towards the trash can near me. You watch in horror as one of the girls drops her heels on the floor to put them on and one lands right on top of Jeff. The shoe is placed upright, still on top of him, and a foot slides in. You feel like everything is moving in slow motion as you see weight being transferred to the foot in the shoe. You know there is no way Jeff is surviving that.

It's just you. Or so you think. You look across to the desk above the trash can Jeff was running towards. You see something moving on the corner. It's Paul! He must have wiggled free and jumped on the desk before the Kleenex was tossed in the trash.

I sit back down on the bed with Christina, right next to you. You slide down towards me on the incline in the mattress. You bump in to my hip and then you get an idea! You start to climb up my robe, up to my lap. It's slow going, but you finally make it. You start jumping up and down, waving like mad, and yelling.

I still can't hear you, but I look down and see something on my robe. I'm about to flick you away, thinking you are a bug, but I pause for a moment and then look closer. I gently pick you up and put you in the palm of my hand. I bring you up close to my face and that is when I realize it's you!

I get the girls' attention and I show you to them. I say I can't believe that you were telling the truth when you called. I am going on about how cute you are, so tiny. You are desperately trying to tell us about Paul, but we are just so baffled over the situation, we aren't paying much attention. We are trying to figure out how this happened and what to do. I hand you to Christina and ask her to keep you safe while I put my dress on.

I decide to eat a cupcake before I put my dress on. As I pick one up from the desk, you notice Paul is stuck in the frosting. You have no idea how he got stuck there, but you know you must get my attention before I eat him.

You start running around in Christina's hand, trying to get her attention. She looks down at you, and sees you gesturing wildly. You are pointing over towards me and the cupcake and shaking your head no. But Christina can't figure out what you are pointing at, so she calls me over. I am just about to take a bite of the cupcake, but stop so I can see what's going on. I carry the cupcake over to you and Christina.

You see Paul closer now, struggling in the thick frosting. He can't get a good footing to push himself out. You holler up to him that you will try to get him out. The music is too loud, and he's just too far away, so he doesn't hear you. As Christina and I are trying to figure out what you are saying, I take a bite of the cupcake, just barely missing Paul.

You are waving and screaming "NO!" even louder now, but we still can't figure out what you are talking about. Christina and I look at each other and we both chuckle a bit. You look a little silly to us. I smile at you, shake my head in confusion, gently tap you on the top of your head with a finger and tell you you're silly and cute, and take another bite of the cupcake. This time, I don't miss Paul. He goes right in to my mouth with the cake and the frosting. You freeze, watching me chew, and then swallow. I lick my lips and fingers in delight, so yummy! You realize Paul is gone. You are truly alone in your tininess now.

Christina puts you down on top of the table with all the food. She figures you will be safe there, we all know where you are. We begin to discuss what to do and how to get you big again. As you wait for us to come up with a plan, you start kicking some salt around on the table. I begin to impatiently drum my fingers on the table, right near you. I am not paying attention to you because I know you can't get off the table alone.

All of a sudden, you start to shrink even smaller. You start screaming, trying to get someones attention, but we all have our back to you and as you get smaller and smaller, your voice gets quieter and quieter. There is no way I will hear you. When you finally stop shrinking, you look up at the grains of salt you were just kicking around. They are now as big as a house!

I look back down at the table, but I can't find you. You were just there, right by my hand! But now you are gone, and I lean down, my huge face hovering above you. I call your name, and you and jumping up and down, yelling my name, but I can't see or hear you. Christina leans her face in too, to help me look. We are staring right at you. You can see our giant eyes looking in your direction. But you have become so tiny, we don't see you.

I am so upset that I've lost you, I start crying. My tears splash on the table all around you. One tear lands right on you, almost drowning you. The tears start forming a puddle on the table, but to you, it's like the ocean. You start treading the water, desperately trying to stay afloat, but with each tear that falls, the water ripples like a choppy ocean.

Christina walks me over to sit on the bed and then she walks over to the desk to clean it up. She picks up a napkin and starts to wipe the salt and tears off. With one swipe, the napkin catches you and you get pushed off the desk and fall to the floor. As you fall between Christina's feet, you notice how she looks bigger than before. As you land on the carpet, you slip down between the fibers because you are so small.

As Christina continues to wipe off the desk, massive grains of salt and crumbs rain down around you. You are doing your best to dodge around between the carpet fibers so the huge salt doesn't crush you. You have a few near-misses. And one relatively small piece of salt, the size of a car, slips down between the fibers right next to you.

It appears that all the salt has been wiped off, so you start to journey towards the center of the room. You can't see anything in front of you, only above. You turn your back to Christina's feet and start moving away from her. All the girls are walking around, trying to figure out what to do and how to console me. Your heart is pounding every time a foot steps down above you. You are not getting crushed because you are at the very base of the carpet fibers. But you feel the constrict around you as they are pressed down by the weight of the girls walking over you.

Meanwhile i am telling the girls to go and cancel the wedding. I can’t get married to a groom who’s not here. They reassure me that everything will be ok and that they will take care of it all.

Back on the ground A stiletto heel comes down right over you. The skinny heel is small enough to slip farther in the carpet than the other shoes, and it slides down just inches from you.

Christina and I begin to clean up the mess in the room, hoping this will help us find you. I pick up a box of bobby pins, and as I walk over you, my hands are shaking and I drop them. The pins rain down all around you, some landing flat on the top of the carpet, some sinking down near you, poking straight up. We crouch down and start to pick up the pins. You see this as your chance! You climb up a carpet fiber and when you get to the top, you start waving your arms and screaming my name. Christina and I are both looking right at you, but you are so tiny, we don't see you.

My enormous finger is looming so close, right above you. Christina tried to cheer me up, but I just start crying again. A huge tear splashes down on top of you. It hits so hard, you fall to the base of the carpet and the impact knocks you out. I finally give up, and as I stand to leave, my stiletto heel slides down between the carpet fibers, so close to your unconscious body. Just a tiny bit further over, and you would have been crushed.

You wake up to a dark room. I have left, the room is completely empty. You climb up to the top of the carpet and do your best to run to the balcony. A few times, you misstep and fall back to the bottom of the carpet. You finally make it to the door and squeeze under it. You start to look around, trying to see if you can find me. A huge gust of wind blows across the balcony, picking you up in it. You fly through the air, getting closer to the parking lot. As you fly, you feel yourself slowly getting bigger. You stop growing once you are the size of a tiny ant.

As you land on the windshield of a moving car, you look in and see how lucky you got! You landed on my car! As you try to cling on to the windshield, you wave one arm, trying to get my attention. You are still so tiny, I look right past you and don't see you at all. Finally, stopped at a red light, I notice you. You just look like a bug though. So, I spray then washer fluid, and you slide all the way down the windshield.

I start to drive again, and you hang on for dear life. Once we get to my destination, you realize you have grown a bit more. You are able to climb to the edge of the car and jump down to the ground. You are jumping and waving your arms, desperately trying to get my attention again. I have grabbed so much stuff out of the back seat of my car, I can barely see in front of me, let alone the ground where I am walking.

I take a step forward, and feel a crunch. I have stepped right on top of you, crushing you beneath the ball of my foot in my stiletto heels. I lift up my foot and ask Christina to tell me what I just stepped on. She looks and says it was just a bug. We both shrug and continue to walk away. Leaving your tiny crumpled body on the pavement never to be seen again.
