if the author uses this world again then maybe this was worth it, else you are right

2025-09-23 00:53:48 +0000 UTCDon't know, not sure if I can bring myself to care. Not a fan of this arc though that may be more a reflection of my current poor mental state. Love the story, but feel this arc could have been better served as 2 brief chapters, rather than a whole new story in a new world with excessive amounts of tragedy baked in to the very premise of their existence in this world. I like the story for the grounded escapism and am not a fan of how much tragedy there is baked into the very premise of this arc

Hou is stated to have great foundations in many schools of martial arts, but struggles to grasp higher level applications. This would be in line with Ke's experience being largely colored by his disparate learning from the martial realms. Tian is described as being masterful against certain goes, but falling apart when facing something he's not used to. This would line up with Wu Kangming having less experience fighting varied threats while highlighting his superior skill against conventional foes. Also, it would make sense given the pov fight we saw from Wu earlier in the story. When he's facing the guy corrupted by the puppet master, he relies somewhat on his master to mentor him through the fight

Hou is all combat and instincts which reminds me of wu kangming. The only problem with my theory is Hou’s view of brotherhood and family which doesn’t seem to resonate with wu kangming his brother the mirror swordsman
