These two characters were the real start of me posting my original characters/stories online. I haven't posted their vids on youtube because they're so... old and crusty... but they make an appearance now and then on Patreon and I'd like to yap about them for a bit if you'll indulge me!
Btw, these are My Hero Academia ocs! So if you've never seen that anime, please note that these characters live in a world where people are born with different abilities/ superpowers (quirks) and some people use these abilities in order to act as superheros. (For those that do know MHA, these two would be the same age as Fatgum at the start of the series! Around 29.)
About Inota/Oni Watanabe (Hero name: Hell Boy)
Before his quirk manifested, Inota was living his life alongside a constant voice inside his head that he could talk to. His parents thought that it was simply an imaginary friend, but once Inota turned 5 years old, that “voice” was able to swap with Inota to gain control of the body and move and speak for himself.
Around this time, they found out that this separate person, who was named Oni, was able to transform their body into a demon like form (red skin, longer horns, spiky white hair, more muscular build) while Inota could change them back to normal. They learned that this demon transformation was their quirk and that, for some reason, their cohabitation in one body wasn't a personality nor dissociative disorder but two souls somehow cohabitating the same body. Since there was no way to separate them, they had to accept this and work together in order to become a hero.
Fun facts:
-When their sclera (the whites of the eyes) are white, then Inota is in control of the body. If their sclera is black, then Oni is in control of the body. This is true whether they are in human form or demon form.
-Inota is kind and shy, while Oni is straightforward and assertive.
-After hero school and intensive training, Hell Boy can grow up to 9ft tall when transformed.
-Hell Boy’s hero name is a reference to the American comic book character Hellboy.
-Hell Boy runs his own agency that fights crimes and also helps in emergency rescue missions.
-As teenagers Inota had a crush on Katsuko, but Oni thought she was annoying.
About Katsuko (Hero name: Spurtie)
Katsuko was always a sleepy, somewhat lazy child. But once her quirk manifested, the jewel-like core that sat embedded in her torso since birth began to light up and Katsuko seemed to perk up, accomplishing tasks much quicker with more attention payed to them, at least for a short period of time. At first, these energetic periods were based purely on her emotions, but once she figured out how to initiate an energy spurt, Katsuko began using her quirk while taking tests, playing games with other kids, and when rushing to get somewhere on time. She didn’t always want to be a hero. For a while she actually wanted to be a dancer, but after an earthquake brought down her house as a middleschooler, she was saved by an unflashy hero she had never heard of before. That experience made her want to try helping others rather than using her ability purely for herself/ to gain notoriety. She went to the same hero school as Hell Boy and they were friendly classmates, but after graduating they grew apart as they went in different career directions. Spurtie hopped around various rescue organizations, but after about 5 years of work she got a serious injury that debilitated her for a long time. She never gave up being a hero though, and after a long recovery hiatus tried to get hired again only to be rejected over and over. Just when she wondered if she really should just retire, she got an invitation for a job interview at Hell Boy’s agency.
Fun facts:
-Spurtie’s energy core changes color depending on her mood and also begins to glow when she’s using her quirk.
-If she uses her energy spurt for too long or too frequently it can lead to extreme fatigue and cause her to pass out, the worst case being heart failure.
-Spurtie’s hero outfit was originally not cat themed but was changed when joining Hell Boy’s agency in order to make her look like a Maneki-Neko (beckoning cat). This was done to bring herself/ the agency luck as well as adhering to the HellBoy agency’s theme of Japanese folklore inspired costumes.
-Spurtie was originally intended to be a self-insert character, and I still technically consider her one, but her looks and personality are vastly different than my own.
I'd really love to dive more into the office romance between these two since he becomes her boss, as well as show more of Inota's childhood crush mixing in with Oni's growing attraction to her as adults.
