Siblings (2023)

Austin, a man in his mid-thirties, was excited to attend the festival with his girlfriend, Sarah. His 27-year-old brother, Matt, was supposed to join, but he went missing just before their departure. Unknown to them, a tiny, bug-sized Matt was precariously positioned under Austin's heel.

Earlier, while fiddling with one of his experimental devices, Matt had inexplicably shrunk. Throughout the day, he tried grabbing Austin's attention, especially when the couple was about to leave. Once, Austin's massive foot came dangerously close to ending Matt's life. Desperate for recognition, Matt scaled Austin's sandal, settling at the heel, hoping to be noticed.

Rushing around, Austin returned to his room to get his sandals, replying to Sarah's query, "Yeah, okay! Just need my sandals."

Tiny Matt shouted, "Austin!" hoping against hope. But as Austin put on his sandals, Matt's heart raced. The colossal foot, with toes stretching out, descended. The shadow of the sole grew, and soon Matt was ensnared beneath the weight of his brother's heel.

Oblivious, Austin responded, "Coming!" and left, unknowingly taking tiny Matt with him. Each step Austin took sent the sandal's base crashing against the trapped Matt.

At the festival, Sarah remarked, "Pity Matt couldn't join."

Austin, feeling foot fatigue, said while resting one foot over the other, "Matt loves these things. I don't come down often, so he looked forward to it. Not sure where he would've gone off to." 

Now clinging vertically, Matt saw the vast terrain of Austin's foot below and the daunting calf above. Falling wasn't an option. Desperate, he pounded against the tough skin, hoping for a sign.

Suddenly, Austin felt an odd sensation under his heel, like a tingling sensation. Dismissing it, he shifted his foot back down, once more pinning Matt. He never considered it was his tiny brother, desperate for attention. 

Deciding to head back, Austin suggested, "Let's go home. Maybe Matt's waiting. How about dinner?" Sarah nodded, and the duo headed out, unaware of the tiny passenger beneath Austin's heel.
