My company, and many of the companies we work with, have been very proactive about training for how to handle PPI (private personal information) we have for our jobs. It has been a big push so far this quarter and I can see why. With all the data breaches we see every month, it astounds me how out of date/touch many government leaders are with the digital world. I remember the big concerns about the Real ID Act here in the states. Many people pointed out it was just a big database of every US citizens identies that could be stolen.

Good morning! Yikes, who would have thought providing a picture of your government ID to a 3rd Party company would be a bad idea? This should be an example why ID verification shouldn’t be used. Just let the consumers use a credit card for a small purchase to prove they are over 18 years old. Influencers don’t influence my purchases, but they give me the idea of doing something. For instance I was on the fence about Plex/Jellyfin for ages. Microsoft closing down their media store really made me think about my own collection of content I enjoy, and losing potential future access for it. The Morning Somewhere chats about JellyFin finally got me over the hump of procrastination to finish my server. That’s typically how I’m influenced by influencers. I then went and found a very budget friendly mini PC. Dropped in 8TB of storage. So for a 1/4 of the price of a Synology NAS I got my own Jellyfin server up and running. 8TB is plenty for my very modest collection of TV Shows/Movies. Thanks for making my morning, 30 minutes better!
