Playing catch up with the podcast and I get what your saying about the news. However, it seems like people don’t know but at least for my station we grab or request videos/ news packages from other outlets. There are websites we have access to that stations share content with each other whether it be from cnn, nbc, or fox. You can say: “Hey, LA! I saw you have a VO of the protest that you ran in your 5pm news. Can you upload it to the share website so I (a station in Texas) can use it in my show.” This is one of the reasons why you can see the same clip or video of a story in multiple news stations across the US. We even share scripts which is also another reason why you will hear some of the same wording being said on air.
