Daybreak Volume 5 / Sunrise Chronicles Prologue Early Beta

The last few months have been especially busy and stressful for me at work. And while I'm not entirely finished with planning for Volume 5, I have gotten far enough that I have something to share.
As the name of this post implies, Daybreak on Hyperion's volume 5 is going to see a name change. The reason for this is because I'm going to do a 'soft reset' for the story. If you haven't seen my latest post on my blog on the reasons, please do before reading this prologue. It'll help give some context on why this prologue was written the way it was -- as an introduction to all the new readers about the type of story I'm writing, as well as the world and the conflicts that our characters are deeply mired in.
Any feedback would be much appreciated, as I sincerely hope this intro works better for many new readers than the original beginning of Daybreak.
