Men who have "queer" blinds and rumors in Hollywood (Shawn Mendes, Harry Styles, Nick Jonas, even Hugh Jackman) usually have a history or reputation for dating older women. I wanted to dive a bit into this pattern and see if the theory holds up, as well as talk about the discourse around this topic - do these rumors come because we view older women in society as less "worthy" OR is it the ultimate sign of being into women if you're attracted to "older women". I think that the allegedly bi man/older woman trope (especially if/when these are pr relationships that stick for a minute) boils down to the man signaling that he is progressive by doing something ~unique~ or unusual without actually alienating consumers with trad values in the way that an openly same sex relationship would. Not saying it’s such a significant act that they’d be with these women, because 40 or not, they are still hot- just that this could also be the pr angle that sells to everyone 🤷🏼♀️

Sometimes I feel excluded from those conversations even though i’m a girl because i’m a lesbian and don’t like men. When I was closeted I used to feel pressure to date men to be part of “the girls and the gays” and truthfully there are some people who seem way less interested in me as a person now that my life totally de-centers men
