Artwork going into the future
Added 2021-10-10 09:13:29 +0000 UTCWith the critique I've gotten i have decided to do some updates to the art.
My first priority will be upgrading the sprites. My original vision for them was to do them in my cell shaded style with clean line art, but now I'm realizing it doesn't work. Due to the smaller canvas size the line art comes out VERY pixelated, and the cell shading doesn't really work out with the rest of the style. So I'm working on fully redoing the line art and going with a more painterly style (like The Smoke Room sprites). I will be kind to myself and not do this art in huge batches, so it will take a few builds for them to be fully upgraded.
But sprites aren't the only thing that's changing. I'm sure you all have noticed is that there are no drawn backgrounds. While the filtered images are a VN staple, and they do the trick, they lack the detail and personal touch that drawn backgrounds have. I plan on having most backgrounds fully illustrated, but there are a few exceptions - the images of the streets, and mall, are taken by me within the real life city of Riga where the story takes place in, so I'm going to keep them in.
So thats the plan going into the future! I have an even bigger mountain of work for myself, but i will get through it!
