Episode 302: Star Trek & Mega Man Battle Network

You'll have to forgive the double intros on this one! As often happens these days, this episode consists of two unrelated segments. But both are good, and feature Retronauts mainstays, talking up classics. First, Diamond Feit joins to talk about Star Trek: The Motion Picture—its place in history, its merit as a film, and the games inspired by it. Then, Nadia Oxford and I talk about the original Mega Man Battle Network, which is alarmingly nearly two decades old now. These topics have nothing to do with each other, but they are linked by a pair of interesting conversations. And really, isn't that what you're here for?

of course! that movie was made in-between seasons of the show! I will never trust an iTunes featurette hosted by a lady in a strange Starfleet uniform ever again.

Whenever it was mentioned that Star Trek was the first TV show to be adapted into a movie (and before you pointed out that couldn't be right) I instantly thought of 60s Batman.

Man. The last song played prompted me to check out the MMBN ost. Really great stuff.

Well that’s two series that I had zero interest in a week ago that have now made my backlog.. Megaman Battle Network and Etrian Odyssey. What’s the best games from each? I’m guess 2 and 4 respectively based on the podcast discussions.

There have been rumblings in the last year about a 4K remaster of the director's edition. https://redshirtsalwaysdie.com/2019/07/19/star-trek-motion-picture-directors-edition-4k-remaster-might-happen/

Could we make up something so fantastic?
