Cinder is the daughter of Emberis, the tarragon who brought about the practice of magic to the town at the foot of her mountain. The village, previously named Steluhm, was freightened of the tarragons, until Emberis made first contact with the village. Sick of the village's fear, Emberis offered them powers beyond their wildest desires, in return for their worship and respect. She would promise to protect the village from those who mean harm. The deal was quickly made. As a token of their appreciation and trust, the village was retitled to Ember, and continued to worship the terragon who watched over them.
After the passing away of her mother, Cindar only wishes to make others suffer in worse ways than she already has. She uses the magic that her mother taught her to toy and torture the villagers she once protected. Prior to one experiment she conducted on a human, to see what they taste like, it seems like they have become her favorite source of nutrition. Cinder pursuades and uses her worshipped status to lure back villagers to her lair, where they get shrunk and become her meal.
Cinder now believes that she doesn't need anybody but herself, especially after her seven loyal servants (the seven witches of Evelaire) left her side without a word. Keiko and Kyra (two of the escaped witches), haven't seen Cinder in years. But fate is a funny thing and perhaps, now that Kyra is visiting Ember for the first time in years, a reunion might be in order...
