*KPOP DEMON HUNTERS* FULL MOVIE REACTION

*KPOP DEMON HUNTERS* FULL MOVIE REACTION

So, I have a theory that, that wasn’t the first time Huntrx skydived into the venue, because if you notice how the lights framed them coming in, before rotating and guiding to the stage

I agree that I wanted to know more about Rumi's parents. I thought they would touch more on a seemingly very important topic but oh well lol. I feel like maybe the Saja Boys were all once human? Given their more human-like appearances compared to the other demons? I'm not sure. But maybe they just get sent back to the demon world and not really "killed" when the girls defeat them. Who knows. I really hope that the next movie is a prequel that touches more on Rumi's parents, the other Saja Boys, maybe even Gwi-ma's whole deal too. Overall very enjoyable, and ironically enough "Your Idol" has been stuck in my head recently. As a former hardcore BTS fan, I can safely say that the k-pop related aspects are all very accurate lmao. The not actually taking a break even if the group says they are, the concert scenes, the songs/music video/performances themselves, the outfits and colorful hair, etc.

An interesting fact that I learned online, that in the era that Jinu was originally from, commoners weren't allowed in the palace, unless they were musicians. Which you can see that Jinu's mother understands cause she's holding back his sister when the guards stopped them. So ultimately he wasn't bad in the way that Gwi-ma makes him out to be as he didn't realize how asking for a better singing voice would result in a royal summons (something he can't say no to) that would split him from his family who he had wanted to support. The movie was originally supposed to be 3 hours long but Netflix wanted it shorter, which is truly unfortunate cause we could have had more songs and story.

(the k-pop songs are very accurate as well, they brought in a ton of the most famous k-pop producers, some of the songwriters have worked with the biggest k-pop groups)

the creators mentioned in an ama that the tiger and bird aren’t exactly demons, they’re more like spirits

I think that gwi-ma kind of feasts on human's bad energy, those who are "naturally" bad and those are his demons, and there're the ones like Jinu that have something that gives them shame or regret and those are like NOT fully his because they regret what they did or the mistakes they made. You know what I mean? And then there's like so much info for a sequel a prequel a something!?

I'm so totally in love with this movie, I've been watching every reaction I can track down for it. Came here after watching the abridged version on YouTube, cause I found all your reactions to it so relatable to my own. The lip quivering interspersed with randomly shouting *fuck* during the emotional scenes, it was like watching myself haha, and felt like I'd have a really good time watching the full thing, was not disappointed at all. This film is such a masterclass in (among other things) character likeability and believability, pacing of storytelling, and visual symbolism, but most of all how to make a great god damn musical with hard-hitting pop songs as your backbone. It manages to do SO well what Wish utterly failed to with its soundtrack when they tried to make it catch on by making the songs catchy. If Disney took some notes from Sony Animation, we might get some good films again... I was also kinda disappointed that we never got more info on Rumi's mother or father, and indeed how one becomes a demon and the apparent.. tiers of demon-ness within the power hierarchy. My take from it was that anyone with shame or guilt is susceptible to Gwi-Ma's influence, that he's the voice of darkness or doubt inside any human head, but that that influence is stronger where the Honmoon is weaker. They do mention "weak spots" at one point. I dunno, it was unclear. Really loved watching this, great insights and super fun commentary.

Fun fact, the Magpie and Tiger are in reference to the cultural paintings made in the 16th century during the Korean Renaissance, which happens to be the era Jinu lived in when he was human. The Derpy Tiger is supposed to represent people in power, while the Magpie represents the common people. The Magpie taking the hat from the tiger is a joke about the common people always taking back the power. Also, there's a quick rendition of what the paintings kind of looked like then in the credits at 1:38:33

There's 2 versions of Takedown, one sang by the VAs/singers and one sang by three members of TWICE (Jeongyeon, Jihyo and Chaeyoung). In the actual performance, it's the VAs singing, Twice's version is only used in the end credit as they showed it. And this video: https://youtu.be/l8Dr7vzMSVE?si=TFkq47v417-89y3y The director of K-pop Demon Hunters revealed which groups inspired the film's characters. In an interview with Forbes, Maggie Kang explains that she aims to create unique characters that reflect specific archetypes associated with K-pop. In the case of Huntrix, there was a wide mix that included a bit of everything, but they were primarily inspired by TWICE, ITZY, and Blackpink For Saja Boys, the team drew inspiration from Tomorrow X Together, BTS, Stray Kids, ATEEZ, BIGBANG, and Monsta X. Rumi's father must be a legend among his community imagine rizzing your way into bed with not only a world famous pop star but also the natural predator of your kind that has been hunting and slaying your kind for generations. lol Everybody online seems to be asking for a sequel. Personally, I think we need a prequel. How did Huntrix first come together? Where is the nameless third member of the Sunlight Sisters? Is Rumi’s father dead or just missing? So many questions still need to be answered. I loved this movie and really hope they follow-up with these questions in the future. While not explicitly named, a lot of the demons shown are those that appear in Korean folklore, like the Dokkaebi wielding clubs, the water dwelling Mulguishin (souls of drowned victims that become ghosts determined to share their fate by drowning others with them), and Mongdal Guishin (The faceless guishin).

Her father was a demon, and her mother was a human hunter, I heard too that the cat's name is Derpy, with Rumi loosing her voice it wasnt do to overwork it was due to Rumi's shame of being a demon and the patterns grew and got to her throat and affected her voice making her not be able to sing not overworking her voice.
