Russia-Ukraine Flash Report 10 SEP 2022 12:15 PDT - Goodwill Gesture & Housekeeping

The map is going to be out of date for a little bit longer because things are moving so fast. Also, I didn't get enough sleep because a smoke detector, one that is 25 feet off the floor, decided to do it's damn smoke detector thing this morning, and I'm getting brunch out with Dr. Mrs. Malcontent before I burn the whole house down.

The Russians have announced another "goodwill gesture" and are retreating from what they claim is parts of Kharkiv (they mention Balakliya). The reality is the Russian army has suffered a crushing defeat is in absolute chaos in Kharkiv and Luhansk.

We know the following and I'm trusting the team as I just woke up and haven't reviewed. So take this will a small pinch of salt.

• The announcement of the total withdrawal was completely disorganized, Russian troops, mercenaries, collaborators, gauleiters, and supporters found themselves sometimes 100 kilometers from the Russian border with no evacuation orders
• Russian troops are surrounded in Izyum - seeing a consistent number of around 3,000 - take it with a big grain of salt
• Ukraine has retaken Krements Mountain in Izyum and checkpoints on the north side of the city
• Ukraine has retaken Rubizhne [Kharkiv]
• Ukraine has retaken Horokhovatka and is moving to the east bank of the Oskil River
• Ukraine has liberated Lyman, Yampil, Svyatohirsk, and most of the region south of Izyum
• Ukraine was able to block the Russian retreat at Oskil
• Ukraine has launched a major ground attack on Vovchansk, cutting off another Russian Ground Line of Communication (GLOC - supply line) and blocking a retreat route
• Ukraine has entered or fully retaken Lysychansk in the Luhansk Oblast
• Ukraine has entered or fully retaken Kreminna, which was a key city supply and logistics hub and a critical defensive point for Russian troops
• Ukrainian forces have retaken the T-1302 Highway and are advancing from Siversk to retake the Luhansk frontier - there is what appears to be heavy fighting
• Video showed a Ukrainian armor column traveling unimpeded in daylight past the burning Verkhnokamyanka oil refinery on the T-1302 Highway
• There are unconfirmed reports of Ukrainian troops in Severodonetsk - likely in the hromada and not the city itself
• There are a lot of rumors that Ukraine captured Vesele west of Donetsk and retook the airport - but a lot of confusion
• Russian troops that are withdrawing are abandoning everything, military vehicles, ammunition, etc.
• There are a lot of mines and boobytraps left behind
• War crimes are being discovered

The "goodwill" gesture will likely include most if not all of Luhansk. The "renewed focus" on Donetsk will save Russia's special military operation. It will only serve to further degrade their army.
