Russia-Ukraine Flash Report 23 JUL 2022 01:45 PDT - Ukraine Setting Conditions in Kherson
Added 2022-07-23 08:44:53 +0000 UTCOn July 20, after the Antonovskiy Bridge in Kherson became unusable for commercial traffic from a second strike, we wrote that trucks would have to take a 140 km detour.
That detour to get to Kherson city, included crossing the Darivka Bridge over the Inhulets River. On the detour route, there is no possible way to get in or out of Kherson without crossing the Darivka Bridge. But you knew that already.
Ukraine shelled the Darivka Bridge today, causing moderate damage and reducing it to one lane.
Ukraine is settling conditions for something bigger. Russian positions west of the Inhulets River have had both critical overland GLOCs significantly degraded. Frontline units hold 3 to 5 days of supplies and brigade level facilities in Nova Kakhovka and Kherson were already destroyed.
Going to sleep, our European researchers are trying to figure out the next move on the chessboard.
