Russia-Ukraine SITREP A for 12 MAY 2023 23:59* - Russian Flanks at Bakhmut are Crumbling

Are you new to our Patreon? You need to click on the link to download the PDF attachment, which has links to all the videos referenced in the podcast.

This is Report 383, which is 45 pages, combat only, in condensed format. This is the only update for May 12 and is a combined May 11-12 update.

Important: Until further notice, we are moving to a condensed format for Situation Reports due to increasing activity in support of the looming Ukrainian offensive. The news cycle is moving too fast to do one report every 24 hours. Up to three Situation Reports will up done a day, and there may be a significant increase in flash reports. We will also do live streams if the situation becomes dynamic. Once the operational tempo slows down, we will move back to full reports.

What's the big story? Ukraine makes significant gains against the northern flank in Bakhmut, while PMC Wagner continues offensive operations in the city itself. There was new information that came in at 03:30 hours PDT that we can't confirm for this report - have to hit enter at some point.

The second story? Russia and Ukraine trade deep strikes.

Thank you for the detailed report. Can you please clarify how your Daily Assessment that Ukraine holds the initiative on all fronts, and are holding Wagner in place in Bakhmut relate to your reports of Wagner gains within Bakhmut and Russian gains on a couple of other fronts? Also, are all Russian forces in Ukraine still combat ineffective, as mentioned in your previous reports? I hope that Ukraine has the initiative, but want to avoid underestimating the enemy. [Edited to clarify that I support Ukraine.]
