Russia-Ukraine SITREP A for 07 MAY 2023 14:45* - Russian Cruise Missile Attack and Kremlin Drama

Are you new to our Patreon? You need to click on the link to download the PDF attachment, which has links to all the videos referenced in the podcast.

This is Report 379-A, which is 23 pages in condensed format. This is the first update for May 7, 2023.

Important: Until further notice, we are moving to a condensed format for Situation Reports due to increasing activity in support of the looming Ukrainian offensive. The news cycle is moving too fast to do one report every 24 hours. Up to three Situation Reports will up done a day, and there may be a significant increase in flash reports. We will also do live streams if the situation becomes dynamic. Once the operational tempo slows down, we will move back to full reports.

What's the big story? Prigozhin has changed his mind. The last 5% of Bakhmut is important, his units are not combat destroyed, and he claims the Kremlin has promised ammunition, and they really mean it this time.

The second story? Another POW exchange, and this time it is members of the Azov Battalion.

Which of these sitreps will make up the podcast? I like to listen to the podcasts and don’t want to spoil my own enjoyment. Keep up the amazing work.

Tell me if I am wrong, but to me it looks as if it is becoming very hard for Russia not to show weakness. It is a big win for Prigozhin if he gets what he wants after the Oscar worthy performance and there is no question that the RMOD "caved". But it would be awful if things started going sideways in Bakhmut with only Akhmat troops to continue the offensive there, so my guess is they just chose the lesser of two evils. Between the objective of showing a win and the objetive of crushing Prigozhin, they had to choose what comes first, but in that process they may have handed Prigozhin and his faction a big political win.

I really appreciate your hard work. You’re usually accurate because you wait for actual evidence from the ground. That being said, it looks like Ukrainian officials were right to be sceptical about Prigozhin’s histrionics. They had more intel, plus hard experience that if a Russian leader’s (or wannabe’s) lips are moving, they’re probably lying. Ignore what they say, watch only what they do. Anyway, please keep up the good work! It’s still one of the best sources on the war. I look forward to each update.
