Israel-Hamas Flash Report 30NOV23 23:50 PST - Cease-Fire Collapses
Added 2023-12-01 06:49:48 +0000 UTCOn December 1, shortly before 07:00 hours Tel Aviv time, Hamas or a Hamas-aligned militia fired several rockets toward Holit, Israel, from the Gaza Strip. This was after an air raid alert was issued to several settlements in southern Israel around 06:00 hours.
A few minutes after 07:00 hours, Israel announced that Hamas had not provided a list of names of the hostages to be released on December 1, as required by the existing cease-fire agreement. In a terse message, declared the cease-fire broken.
Shortly after the Israel Air Force restarted airstrikes and the Israel Navy and ground forces started shelling the Gaza Strip again. Reportedly more rockets were fired toward Serdot. Local Palestinian media, CNN, and the BBC provided independent reports from within the Gaza Strip of ground fighting between IDF forces and Hamas militants.
The Office of the Prime Minister of Israel released a statement, declaring, "Amid the return to combat, we stress the government of Israel is committed to achieving the goals of the war — releasing our hostages, eliminating Hamas and ensuring that Gaza can never again threaten the people of Israel."
