Added 2015-12-09 07:47:38 +0000 UTCNow that I am happy with the shape and basic design, I stripped the color off the creature to allow me to render its skin properly; I will add the patterns back on later with other layers.
For now, I am methodically laying out the final mouthpart designs.

Comment away! I am always happy to answer :) I want the mouthparts of the predator to be very colorful and bold basically as its threat and startle display. It spends a lot of time hidden, so when it IS threatened, either by another animal or one of its own kind, suddenly flashing its huge jaws and open mouth helps intimidate and shock an enemy. (It will have more color than this version, which is mostly shading). The prey creature was colored when this was still a reef scene. Now that it is on sand flats, I will rethink it perhaps with camouflage in mind.
