I the end I chose A: I agree with your reasoning though, in this case it was to keep the visual form of the plane simpler and more readable

But since this is a sci-fi setting and you're an artist we should go with rule of cool rather than providing the person looking at the art piece with an infodump on the loadout. So, by just looking at this, and without prior knowledge. Option A seems a very simple bomb. And being the only thing loaded it means that it's devastating or the only one weapon they have. It gives the impression of something desperate as they could not load more... or something extremely powerful like a nuke where once deployed you should not worry anymore about "enemies". But years of hollywood training on my brain gives me the impression of looking at an impending nuke drop. Option B seems more desperate instead. Let me explain. Those don't look like mini dumb-missile volley launchers, therefore they are either bombs or rockets. And by the looks i'm more inclined to say bombs than missiles. And being that there's 2 of them there either was not enough time for more or that plane can only load 2. So with a loadout such as that we're not looking at a fighter plane, obviously, but also not a bomber. And this means that these people are really desperate and the situation is really dire. They cannot be nukes because loading 2 nukes on the same plane is suicide and if they are common ordinance it means that plane is either going for 2 targets on the ground or 2 targets in the air (though, again, they look a lot more like bombs than missiles). The reasoning above is to say: Option A gives me an impression of "Impending Michael Bay Moment" Option B gives me an impression of "Desperate Decisions" Therefore Option B is more heroic in my view and should be chosen.
