In this case the wings are equivalent to the wing-like flaps the birrin have on the upper surface of their bodies, evidence of their quadrilaterian ancestry

2016-03-15 05:57:20 +0000 UTCI think giving them little butterfly scales was a really nice touch. One thing I would find interesting is to know what limbs of the birrin the wings of the colibris correspond to. I'm a sucker for comparative anatomy :)
