Added 2019-06-30 15:40:43 +0000 UTCI am working on the ancestral birrin family unit for the book. Matriarch-led polyandrous packs is the current thinking! Females tend to be larger and stronger, whiles males are lighter but far more nimble. Males are depicted with their display wings raised.

Yes I dropped the sequential hermaphrodite idea. I was unable to find a good animal model that suited the story I wanted to tell

2019-06-30 21:10:20 +0000 UTCIn "modern times" I can see a compound/small village built around a small cabal of matriarchs, running the town and keeping things in line. But it's mostly young males and females, with lots of children running about. The older, beta males leave and join the bachelor life, such as it is, living out of caravans and other vehicles, trying to land a cushy spot at another town.
