2025-03-28 07:19:42 +0000 UTCI fully understand your hesitance to play Half Life Alyx in VR, but if you ever have the opportunity to try it, you owe it to yourself to do so. I don’t like VR games, I find them too gimmicky or gamey or frivolous, but Alyx is a different beast, it genuinely is an amazing experience.

I'm glad you ended up enjoying it despite the tumultuous the second half and the initial friction of the controls. Though by the end there, you were smokin' fools with 180° spin shotgun blasts like you'd been doing it for years. I do hope you check out Eps 1 & 2 once everything settles down for you (I hope it's going okay!) because they do more of what this does in slightly different ways but dripping with the same atmosphere. And if you want a recommendation for another series that's slightly outside your wheelhouse - which it's really fun to watch you tackle - but you'll very possibly enjoy: Dishonored. Same art director as Half Life 2, so more immaculate vibes. Take care Amber!

2025-03-05 06:00:34 +0000 UTCI'm so glad you finally got to experience the SUUUPER GRAVITY GUN! It and the portal gun are two of the most fun "weapons" in the half-life universe. A little warning about Episodes 1 & 2... I don't know you will enjoy them as much as you enjoyed HL2. They are still good games but aren't as polished in their design and I think I have a sense of it based on what you liked and didn't like about HL2. That being said I hope you enjoy them a lot!
